White tea is really good for you. It contains more antioxidents than green tea. It's because the buds are collected younger than green tea.

Health benefits of white tea include: lowering blood pressure, lowering cholesterol, heart protection, anti-bacterial and anti-virus properties. it helps strengthen bones, healthier teeth and gums, Healthy skin, It also helps speed up your metabolism.

And it's quite tasty too.

Now that's what i call healthy. Always prefered the white to the green. Green tea to me had that boiled grass taste to it,not that i ever had a mug of boiled grass,it's just what i imagine it would taste like.

Some of this. Would rather have some red wine in me but hey.

Had some of that Lipton Moroccan one t'other day, Sadie. Still haven't decided whether I actually like it or not. Odd tasting stuff.

Currently supping on a Twining's African Honeybush and Lavender with a bit of added honey for me sore throat. Tis really rather tasty :)

Clipper organic english breakfast tea is the nicest "standard" tea ever. Fact. Twinings make some damn fine teas too I must say :)

Does anyone have a good banana bread recipe? Goes well with a cuppa so thought this thread might be appropriate :)

Banana bread <3

Don't have a recipe but if any of our resident domestic goddesses happen to be baking a batch... ;)

Went off the wacky teas for a while - think I OD'd on 'em over the summer - but have just started to get into them again recently. There's not much choice out here in the sticks so mostly Twining's stuff on the menu. They do have a wide range though and plenty gems in amongst them. I'm also very partial to their white tea with pomegranate. Yum <3

Also, I concur with Clipper organic English being probably the best plain ol' cuppa going.

Ooh, I've got a free sample of white tea with pomegranate, not got round to drinking it yet. If I wasn't having a cider I'd have it right now :)

^ And noted elsewhere - woot! =D<3

In tea news, on the menu tonight is another Twining's - Winter Spice (mainly rosehip and apple with cloves, cinnamon, etc) with bit of honey cos I've still got a sore throat. Tis really rather tasty :)

Tis one of their "Moment of Calm" range. Got a few different ones and a selection pack. Must've been stressed at the time :D

Good ol' lemon and ginger (with added honey) now. Yum.

Have been off the booze for quite a while now due to a combination of illness and skintness. Think all this healthy hydration must be doing me some good. I'd like to think so anyway. Probably the longest stretch of sobriety I've had in many, many years. Shame I have to be penniless and poorly to be forced into it though 8)

I kept you semi sober the last time you were here.

Edit: That was due to personal funds and length of visit. ( kids eh? Ha ha )

clipper green tea for me. i do also like twinings cranberry green tea, and there lemon and ginger. have run out, and would do nice right now, my stomaches feeling a little bloated after all that mash with sausages, onions and gravy

Tetleys extra strong - proper tea - who owns & runs this place now ? I don't know who to ask to make my toast - last I recall snolly & Kate held the licence, nice to see it's still in business tho :)

Be much easier if the appropriate people were titled as "waitress"(es) - I don't want waiters as there always was a whiff of misogyny about this place & I reckon that was one of its many charms =D

And damn fine tea-wenches they are too :)

There's quite a few wacky teas on sale here these days which is all well and good but does raise a question - what does one munch 'pon with a cup of fruity/herby tea? Standard tea is made for scones or a nice bit o' cake or the like but they seem wrong for wacky teas. Any ideas on accompaniments?

Fragrant teas go well with scones & unusual jams IMO - proper tea is for consumption with toast or two slices of bread & marge if you're currently down on your luck & living in a time warp 70 years ago.

Marge fact: Margarine is no longer sold in the UK. Dunno what the "butter replacement" spreads actually are but they ain't marge any more.

Haven't tried scones with me fruity ones cos it seemed they would be a tad claggy given the lightness of such brews. Thinking again they could go well given the right jam. Must experiment :)

In tea news, I got a box of quite poncy-looking Chinese black tea with rose petals (actual rose petals layered through the tea). Tis a loose tea so had to borrow one of those metal "tea bags" off Mama Shambles. It's in the shape of a turtle. Not tried it yet but smells feckin' lovely. If I don't like it I could always use it as pot pourri.

In rose petal news, Mama Shambles favourite jam is an Indian rose petal one. Costs a bloody fortune and is hard to find but is pretty damn lush. Would probably work well with scones and a wacky tea.

Full circle in a post :)
