I'm going to explore ayahuasca by starting out with just white b. caapi. I purchased whole strips of vine and pounded them into small flakes with a hammer. I have had extremely bad reactions to every psychedelic I've ever taken, so I am not about to thrust myself right into the DMT realm without some extensive preparation. I have read numerous anecdotes about b. caapi by itself having certain limited healing and psychedelic properties. Plus the vine smells fucking great and I feel a deep affection toward it. The tea also smells amazing, sweet and inviting and almost like vanilla.
Anyway, I simmered 4 oz. of B. caapi in a pot full of water with some vinegar added from 1-5 today. Too much vinegar. Probably four tablespoons. God only knows why. I then left the caapi unheated, unattended, uncovered until almost midnight because I was called in to work!! Well, actually, it was covered until about 7 o'clock. But still. I pitched out the liquid I had so far just to be safe, and am currently simmering the caapi again, this time with less water at much higher heat.
So, I have a few questions:
--is the caapi likely to have molded?
--will boiling the caapi, then simmering it, likely kill any mold that might have infested it?
--should I drink this potion or pitch it out and start over? I'm not some fucking moron who's going to gobble down any substance no matter the risk. If I've wasted the caapi, then so be it, and I'll throw down another $25 or whatever and just wait. But if the caapi is still good, I of course want to drink this delicious-smelling nectar!
