B.C., Ottawa head to top court over supervised-injection site

For hundreds of Vancouver addicts who inject themselves with illicit drugs at a medically supervised site, a Supreme Court of Canada hearing on Thursday may hold the key to life and death.

For B.C. and the federal government, the looming legal battle is a vitally important clash over health policy that goes to the very roots of the Canadian Constitution.

It really oughta happen, addicts are people who need help and the courts should not deny this safety precaution, at least thats what I'd call it.

I didn't read all of the comments in the article, but I am not surprised that people would support this. I saw the youtube videos about Vancouver having these supervised injection sites. Before they had them, people were literally shooting up in the street, and needles were just thrown on the ground. That is why I think people support this program, because now all of those people are not shooting up right there on the streets (although I'm sure still do, but a much smaller number) and dropping their needles on the ground.
