Ayahuasca, need some advice

Hey guys,

On Monday, I consumed some psilocybin mushrooms for the first time in over 2 years, yet my experience with them was very very mild compared to the previous experiences (granted I only took about a gram of dried shrooms this time around). I definitely felt the effects though and was met with some euphoria and the nice appreciation of nature during the experience, but completely without any visual or auditorial hallucinations. I take Mirtazapine as an antidepressant and it's a 5ht2a/5ht2c receptor antagonist, therefore it might be responsible for the lessened effects of the trip. What I would like to know, is if psilocybin use from 2 days ago could cause cross tolerance for ayahuasca/dmt. The last time I took the mirtazapine was 2 nights ago but since it has a long half life I suspect it's still in my system.

I drank some ayahuasca for the first time ever today and got extremely mild if any effects. They were virtually non-existent, but I had a stomachache and slightly purged 3 hours after ingestion (yet it was clear, nowhere close to the dark red color of the ayahuasca). I researched how to make the drink and believe it was made correctly but would like some further guidance. I brew 114g of mimosa hostilis powder, and 112g of yellow banisteriopsis caapi powder in 2 separate pots for over 12 hours in 64oz water + 32oz lemon juice each. The mimosa turned a really nice deep red and was put in the fridge overnight (the yellow caapi was made the following day and mixed immediately). I combined the liquids/first wash of both together and put it in the fridge. The second wash was made in the same manner but included vinegar instead of lemon juice..the second wash was put in the fridge in separate containers than the first.

I drank 4oz of the first wash (there were 44oz of the first wash total, and 48 oz of the second wash), and didn't do anything with the second wash yet. Am I supposed to combine the washes together and brew them as well before consuming? I just combined both washes in a large pot and am brewing them right now. I was thinking about reducing the total mixture (roughly 92oz) down to about half, would 4oz of the final mixture suffice or did I do something wrong?..I was planning on sharing the ayahuasca with a couple friends on Friday and I don't want to disappoint them, I was also considering taking the ayahuasca again sometime next week to gauge the effects, in case tryptamine cross tolerance or my medication may interfere..thank you for any advice :)

If you're inexperienced with ayahuasca, I'd not try it with friends who haven't tried it either. Ayahuasca can be very strong and frightening, sometimes people need help during an ayahuasca session. Will you be able to help them if they need to ?

I'd wait to be sure that the medication is out of your system before drinking ayahuasca to not have to worry about it interfering. What I find the best with ayahuasca is to drink it two night in a row, if the first night is not that strong it prepare you for the second which is usually stronger IME.

Sorry, I can't help you about the doses but sure you can combine the vine and the mimosa in one pot (but i would not, this way you can drink the vine first and drink the mimosa once you feel the vine). It's better to cook the mimosa with some egg white and discard it once it has absorbed a lot of the tannin of the mimosa (consommé technique). Otherwise I think it will make you puke too quickly and will be really unpleasant to drink.

I don't think it being too strong is what he's worried about at the moment - it's getting past threshold by the sound of it.

As far as I'm aware all 5ht2a agonist psychedelics have some form of cross-tolerance, so yes the mushrooms will contribute, and your meds likely did too. I'd give it a full week really off the anti-depressants and not taking any other psychedelics to be able to assess the strength of your brew, though depending on your condition and the severity of it, it might not be wise to stop your medication for so long (or at all for that matter).

I have no experience brewing ayahuasca so someone else can help with the rest :)

Is my mixture of a correct amount? (114g mimosa + 112g of yellow caapi). I was told by someone on another board that my mimosa dosage is way too high while my ayahuasca dosage is too low, what do you think? It's been a week since I've taken my antidepressant now, and I was thinking about trying the brew today or tomorrow.

10g of mimosa with syrian rue tincture blew my mind, I think that you should heed the advice of the people on the other board.
