If you do decide to take her or the company to court then be aware that as of April 1st there have been cuts of £350million from the legal aid budget.
So as of now there is no free legal advice for employment cases, consumer rights, welfare benefits cases etc.

The nice ones are forced to become cunts. I've seen ardent socialists drop all their principles and any "nice guy" qualities after a couple of years in management. It's proof that material conditions drive behaviour, not so much values, background or personality.

I agree for the most part with this. I'm a manager with quite a lot of responsibility and it is true that your principles do get compromised along the way.

I made a decision early on that there were certain core things I would always stay true to (being fair and consistent with staff, not crossing a picket line, etc etc and I've just about managed to hang on to them although undoubtedly I've had to do things I wasn't comfortable with.

I think some people assume that they have to be assholes when they become a manager. Increasingly it is these assholes who are getting left behind. I certainly won't hire them...

Generalising is always unfair to the individuals who don't fit the generalisation and my intent was not to suggest that we should judge individuals, lest I gave that impression; and the main guy I was thinking of when I wrote that post stands out because he is actually a really decent bloke, which just made it more noticeable when he eventually started talking about lean and how the company wasn't there to carry people :D

I agree with PP about intelligence potentially being threatening stuff. I consider myself bright,not very bright,nor a little bit average, just bright is fine. I thought the manager was thick as shit was thick. Im not threatened by very bright people i love listening to them, as long as their aim isnt to tear me to shreads.

She once asked me to do 2 tasks simultaneously that both required 100 % concentration - like writing 2 reports on 2 machines, usinfg both hands, 2 KEYBOARDS, AND 2 BRAINS PRESUMABLY at the same time. Fuckin Clueless and Mental. SO GLAD IM OUT. Id rather live on dry bread than go back there. Iwish id reported her for that one. Snitching is not realy my way of doing things though, although the 'team' is now riven by splits, cliques, snitches and animosities. The snitches print out peoples private face book pages and show them to HR.8(

Corp I'm talking about does have a TLA but is more commonly known by it's two-word name, or internally by it's 4LA. Suspect not the same corp as they're not very active outside Edinburgh. But these corps share tactics and the senior management seem to flit from one to the next bringing their buzzwords with them, spreading infection wherever they go Lean, I mean really! It's all bullwank.
