Dr. Kangaroo has been taking prescription ADHD meds since he was 10. And believes it was passed down from his highly energetic grandfather. Hes tried numerous kinds/brands such as Straterra, Concerta, Adderall, Vyvanse, and has recently been prescribed 10mg Ritalin to take in the morning and 30mg Focalin XR to take after lunch so he can complete all of his work. Dr. Kangaroo is getting tired of switching meds all the time. The reason he switches med so often is because he get tired with the side effects, or they loose their strength very quickly. When he was 14 he was prescribed Vyvanse. He started with a 20mg dose and 3 months later he was taking one 70mg and one 50mg dose every morning. His pediatrician said that a 14 year kangaroo who only weighed around 100 pounds shouldn't have to take that high of a dose, so they switched him to Straterra. And it just made him depressed. Then he was prescribed Adderall, and it eventually lost its potency once again. And recently he was prescribed to Ritilan and Focalin XR. They seem to be working for him, quite well actually. But it causes him to lose his appetite, and he plays lacrosse after school and when he finishes practice he goes home and his meds wear off and he feels terrible. It also makes him very irritable. Point is, he wants to know if he can take his focalin or ridilan another way so that he can still get his work done in school, but not feel like ass because of it. Hes had other kangaroos tell him that ritilan isn't really something to mess with but he knows joeys (ha, get it?) who snort their focalin xr and they are able to get their work done and feel happy and euphoric instead of irritable and non social. When "abusing" you ADHD meds I don't think there is a "SAFE" way, but i'm positive theres a "SAFER" way to do it. But since he has (severe ADHD) would this have the same effect on him? Or would it be like taking it normally and have the same effect? And if theres another way to take it he'll appreciate it if you have any suggestions. And he's not overweight, more physically fit. And he does not do hard drugs like coke, heroin, or meth and stuff. And he dosen't plan on it. But really, any reccomendations would be much appreciated!
