average t level and hrt

i went to the doctor for chronic fatigue and had my testosterone level checked. it was 153 ng/dl which apparently is only 'borderline low' for my age (17). how does this level compare to the average person and what are the chances that i will be eligible for hrt?

edit: i forgot to add that i'm not sure which test they did (there are two from what i hear)
 
You are quite low for your age bro. Normal varies by age but usually 300-1000 ng/dL. Depending on your doctor, he will likely order an MRI/CT Scan to attempt to find the cause. Also, you will likely be placed on a testosterone transdermal gel (ie Testim or Androgel). However transdermal gels are ineffective in about 15% of patients. Injectible is the alternative for those 15% and do not accept anything less than 250mg EVERY 7-10 DAYS. These fucking quacks that prescribe injectible testosterone q 2 weeks or q monthly have no business writing the script.
 
Is there a way to measure test levels, even just an estimate, without a blood test, or whatever?
 
Common Symptoms;

-Erectile dysfunction (may include not having erections while sleeping)
-Infertility
-Decrease in beard and body hair growth
-Decrease in muscle mass
-Development of breast tissue (gynecomastia)
-Loss of bone mass (osteoporosis)
-Fatigue
-Decreased sex drive
-Difficulty concentrating
-Hot flashes

There are saliva tests for hormone levels available. However they are commonly sold by anti-aging and supplement companies who will almost always give you low to low-normal results as a way to get you to purchase their products.
