Just curious really, but how do autistic spectrum disorders affect drug use (pharmacologically, and for those who have one, subjectively)?

I have Asperger's syndrome myself, and have read a book, by a guy called Luke Jackson, called Freaks, geeks and Asperger's syndrome, written by an autistic 14-15 year old author, which mentioned the possibility of opioid peptides being formed in some subjects following ingestion of caseine and/or gluten.

I am interested in how the effects of drug use compare in autistic vs "neurotypical" people, although I gather, that a lot of autistic subjects seem to prefer living by established "rules" as it gives them some indication of how to adapt to neurotypical society, shows them some established patterns/norms to live by, so to speak.

Many autistic spectrum people have specially intense, narrow focuses of interest, or specific areas of study they are attracted to, which can form obsessions in more severely impaired people, myself, I have very little impairment, I am just a little, ahem, excentric, and in my case, I have a special interest in psychoactives and chemistry=D

i have a 5 year old nephew who has autism/aspergers. i have no trouble with him myself, but he does have issues with the general public. wouldnt change a thing about him though... =D also a friend who is 18, very intelligent and funny...tells me he cant seem to find a place to fit in... (what ?)if you wanna know the truth, its the rest of the world that doesnt fit in;) i dont think he needs meds but he is taking risperdol, dont know what dose but...:D

Sheesh, they seem to be rx'ing antipsychotics pretty freely these days, I was talking to someone just the other day, who is about 13, with ADHD, and so takes a shitload of methylphenidate and amphetamine (the amphetamine isn't prescribed), and they prescribed him two antipsychotics, resperidone, and I think, haloperidol, for would you believe it, SLEEP!

I think surely, benzos would be far more suitable, I sure wouldn't take antipsychotics unless I actually WAS psychotic.

I know one person with quite severe autism who responds really well to cannabis.

Most people I know with Asperger's tend to completely stay away from mind alterers of any kind.

And the doling out of antipsychotics is wild! I have done a fair bit work with children and youth on antipsychs. This past year I've tried a few (and no I didn't steal any of the kids) and can really not believe the doses that are being given, especially to 6, 7, 8 year olds.

I've got autistic disorders or something, been on almost every antidepressant and some antipsychotics as well. Nothing worked well for me at all, my life changed for the better about two years ago when I got obsessed with opiates. I get the antidepressant, cozy feeling with ambition to get stuff done all day feeling with opiates. Gosh I wish I could get off the subs and find a hookup for anything especially H or oxy. I was up to 25 10/500 vicodins a day before I went to rehab. I dont know how to cold water extract the junk out either. 120 vics last me like 5 or 6 days. I dont know how many others out there are like me but it sucks being a loner and not knowing the right people and not being able to trust a soul after being taken for a ride so to speak too many times. Gosh it scared the hell outta me that time when some stranger I only knew a short while told me how to get H in the city. I had to drive and he was the passenger, he told me to ask for blow and here it sounds like its called smack. Blow is crack or coke right? looks like I was lucky that night, I got alot to learn, wish I knew someone I could trust to teach me the right stuff.
