Any Raymond Feist fans here??

I am eargerly awaiting the release of his newest book Exiles Return in North America, damn you rest of the world!!!! So I was just wondering if their were any other BLers who are fans of his work?

Personally his characterizations, the detail that he puts into his writing and even some of the concepts he comes up with easily make him the best fantasy writer, besides Tolkien of course.

So any fans out there what are your favourite books, and or characters???

My favourite book it would be a tough call but probably A Darkness at Sethanon.

Favourite Characters: Tomas, Martin, Jimmy and Calis

totally, played all his games and read many of his books

[edit]

re read thread, and realized ur talking about his literary works. his RPGs are a literary wonder implemented into software, the world of krondor was amazing.

wow im so glad you posted this man i had all but forgotten completely about krondor. makes me feel like im 14 again!

Big long time fan of Mr. Feist since reading Magician many moons ago as a teenager :)

My fav would still be Magician.

Me too it all started with Magician, and went from there. Forgotten the names of some of the books in those series as it was a while back, and I guess I really need to re read 'em again.

Feist is definitely one of my favorite authors to read, reread and then read again, dunno what it is but I could read almost everyone of his books every year. And I would have to agree with those above that my favorite is definitely the Magician series, maybe because it was the first and only work of his I had read for the longest of times but whenever I am bored I can pick up that first book and reenter an old familiar world.

yeah ive reread all 22 books of his that i have a bunch of times that ive lost count 8o

Never got to play any of the games, but I loved the books. Magician: Apprentice was one of the first novels I ever enjoyed reading, and I've loved reading fantasy ever since.

Feist is awesome but a question, what do you think of the newest series?

It isnt as good as his earlier work, so its still good but not excellent

I was all for the age shifts prevalent between the Magician, Serpentwar, and Demonwar Sagas. I was even ok with an older Jimmy in the Tear of the Gods run but for some reason the newest age shifts are driving me nuts. That and I think someone should shove Pug under a bus. He's become the most blatantly one-sided character of Feist's career. (Well, maybe with the exception of Murmandamus (sp?)).

I've never read any Feist books, but Betrayal at Krondor was one of the best computer roleplaying games ever. Up there with Chrono Trigger and Fallout 2.

I've read the original Riftwar saga, the Empire Trilogy, Prince of the Blood, The King's Buccaneer, and the Serpentwar series. Would you recommend going back to Feist and reading his more recent books that came out over the past decade? Are they as good as his older work?

I read Magician back in the day. Definitely one of the best books I read in the genre, but I never got around to reading the other books in the series.

I haven't read any fantasy for about 10 years...

Yes I was a huge fan of him when i was around 15 also.

His books did for me what David Eddings never did.

He is sort of a middle ground between the jovial and immature Eddings style and the full on fantasy with hundreds of plots and character Robert Jordan
