Australia Wins Approval for World’s First Plain-Pack Tobacco

Dunno about you guys, but I buy the brand of tobacco I do because it's the one I like best. The fact it comes in a yellow box/pouch with some gay pictures of leaves on it doesn't affect my decision in anyway....

That video disgusted me when I first saw it several years ago, and still continues to do so. Ugh...

On topic, though, I like this idea (and that's coming from a cigarette smoker). I'm curious to see if there's any noticeable difference in Australia's smokers several years down the road compared to before this "Plain Pack" law is/was put into effect (mainly, the amount of smokers and how loyal they are to name-brands when they can no longer visually tell the difference between different manufacturers' products).

It might be a complete waste of time, effort and money, but you never know....

Thanks for finding it for me. And I apologize, he's Indonesian, not Chinese.

40 cigarettes daily for those little lungs. I wanna say he doesn't deserve them, but does he know any better at his age (not being able to read the warning sign)?

Reminds me of Thank You For Smoking. Why even bother with all this? Everybody already knows that cigarettes = death. Adding a few new "this shit is awful for you" stickers isn't going to change anybody's mind about smoking.

Somethings working, our lowest rate of smoking ever and it's not being taken up as much as anytime in the past.

Possibly the major price increases has something to do with it, and as you say general awareness of the dangers of smoking tobacco, but the graphic health warnings on each packet, and on nearly ever side of a pack might be be helping lowering the rate of smokers also, and the new packets with no branding or colours or fonts is supposedly going to take away some of the 'cool' factors some (mainly) younger generation get addicted to a brand name.
