Australian Drug Discussion mods are looking for another Bluelighter to join the team.

Candidates will be assessed by the current moderators.

If you think you're mod material, PM all the AusDD mods with your expression of interest. Moderators will assess using upon their own criteria. As well as recent posts, we'll also be looking at posting history.

As a guide, here's some of the areas I'll be looking at.

Sensibility-maturity:
General behaviour, awareness of possible repercussions from posting “dangerous material”. One or two bad posts can result in a low overall mark, even if other posts score high

Knowledge of Drugs:
This might be specific to a class of drug or single drug, or could be a broad general knowledge as reflected in past posts.

Empathy, non-judgement: Also to do with manner of approach, sensitivity, compassion, ability to communicate etc

Reference claims and statements:
Can be on or off site references, thread links etc.

Harm Reduction value in previous posts:
Providing that no dangerous advice has been given in other posts, a single well thought out post of high HR value can score a high mark.

Demonstrated Dedication to Aus DD
(as opposed to other BL forums): This isn’t judged so much on total of Aus DD posts/ total BL posts, just that the applicant is a frequent poster in Aus DD

Overall understanding of guidelines and principle aims of Aus DD:
This should read “demonstrated understanding....of Aus DD”

Overall post quality:
Things I look for here are presentation and writing style, actual substance (informative, stimulating, etc) and all round value.

To apply, please send a PM to all the mods of Aus DD..

Good luck to those that apply, there are many great minds in ADD and I know it will not be an easy choice for the mods to make :).

You forgot the most important part phase;no nominations in this thread please.

Good luck to whoever applies, it can't be worse than modding CD!

I'm white male aged 18-49. I will not be discriminated against!

This thread needs more promised midget porn! You might want to mention whether there's a cutoff time to get apps in guys?

I've found the offers of free oral sex to be more popular ;)

We'll probably keep it open until we have a reasonable number of candidates, then announce a cut off point. Some might be away, or need a bit of time to decide whether they can dedicate the time.

Hey phase:

could you please outline what the duties and responsibilites of an ADD Mod are, and how much time one would anticipate having to do active work a day?

Cheers

We try to be as flexible as possible in regards to what time mods put in, but in saying that, they're are expected to be around at least once a day when they're not busy. Popping your head in every few days doesn't go down too well, unless of course you have some RL stuff happening. Whenever possible though, notice of a lengthy absence is expected.

I think the role has been best described as "Bluelight Janitor". Basically you clean up the place, get rid of the rubbish etc. In reality, it's often more; what to do about troublesome posters, how to implement improvements, managing new information- is it worthy of being included in the header or a sticky? - where to put new info, what should be merged, closed or moved etc. There is sometimes engagement with senior mods and admin, particularly when tricky or delicate issues arise. Some decisions the mods make are done so only after considerable discussion, so it's important to participate.

As a mod, you're expected to read ALL AusDD threads, and keep up with any new posts. You also need to be able to receive emails and be available to respond quickly to reported posts or complaints. Mods are also expected to read the staff forums and generally be aware of upcoming changes and issues affecting BL. There are other duties that come up from time to time, such as pruning; you must decide which threads are worth keeping and archive accordingly. Additional to that, you need to know at least some of the stuff I've outlined above in the criteria, such as how to reference, the forum regs and the BLUA etc...Then there's the additional PMs. Your total PM storage is increased but IN/OUT boxes can fill quickly ( 3 weeks since I last emptied and it's 2/3 full already!!).

So at times there can be quite a lot to do, but when things are running smoothly, mods don't have to do much. Ideally though, they'll still check in regularly during the day.

Hope that addresses your Qs psytaco

hmmmmmmm midget porn ehh. I wasn't gonna apply for this position but i might now haha.
if i sign over 100% of my soul, what other areas can i access psilo?

I'll pledge naming rights to my first born. Wouldnt trust the poor munchkin's life to the likes of bler's but I reckon that with HR in mind an adequate name could be contrived haha.

Cant say I have much of a soul to give but you may attempt to salvage whats left in that empty chasm I call a heart haha

Generally preffer to be on the recieving end when it comes to oral sex but hey, a mod has to do what a mod has to do =P

If the access all area's, midget porn pass can come in the form of a gift certificate it could fetch a decent price on ebay maybe? Sadly I have no use for it being 6' 3 and unable to picture myself bumping uglies with someone a 3rd of my size lol

^ What shall they name your child then?

How about Lysergic Acid Diethyl Amide L3inad?

Or Cocaine L3inad?

If you wanted to be a bit more avant garde you could look at the RC's, say:

2C-E L3inad or

DOM L3inad or for a 60's hipster vibe maybe

MCat L3inad. :)

Hello Everyone!

I want to stress some of phase's points and make some others. I think it is very imporant to have an open mind when applying to become a MOD. I know quite a few members of AusDD that have very strong views on particular issues, and this is great. As passion is a great quality for a MOD. However, you must also be open to have a well thought out logical reasoning. As many decisions we MODs make are constructed with point to point reasons.

I.e you might feel strongly about some topic for AusDD, and hold one opinion. Your opinion however might be just emotionally or idealistically based. Then when another MOD presents the counter view with more logic and reasoning you mustn't be too proud to change your mind.

The average day as a MOD for me is. I check BL in the morning. So I read all the new posts in the morning (about 30min) and then check various things so it's about an Hour. Then during the day I check the forum about hourly (I work at a PC so it's easy). So all up it's about a bit over an hr a day I would expect MODs to spend on the forum.

However when you open a can a worms like I did recently. It can take an HR to read one thread and compose a well thought out reply.

So don't think it's all a walk in the park with all access midget porn. But if you like educating people, and like helping the community. Don't let me scare you away, goodluck with all your applictions.

Also re-read your applications. It's not an assigment, but a coherent application is better than a confusing thought dribble.

GOODLUCK!!
