^^Correct, it means the survey taker (individual) will not be paid. However, several of these studies have secured a method by which they track which survey takers arrive via a link from BL - and the site gets kickbacks (funding) based on how many people we can direct their way. It isn't so much a $/person type thing (so please don't run over and take a survey 100 times in hopes that it helps us ... it skews their data), but in situations where several sites offer a link and direct possibly participants, the researchers get a better picture of which sites are more helpful than others.
Case in point , last years funding was given a large donation by a research team in an effort to direct participants to them. In reflection, we brought them WAY more people than anyone else they worked with so this year they are essentially dropping some of those other sites in an effort to double (DOUBLE
) their donation to us this year.
