Benzos Ativan + Xanax?

Is it safe to take Ativan (lorazepram) and Xanax (alprazolam) together? What would the effect be?

They're both benzos and benzos by themselves are almost impossible to OD on so yes it's safe. And you'll just feel like you're on benzos. They won't amplify each other like for example opiates + benzos will (don't do this because you can OD).

Okay, thanks! I just took the Xanax and I sort of want to feel less sleepy - bad idea to throw some speed into the mix?

I don't think it would be too dangerous. I've never done real speed though just mixed benzos with some dexedrine once. It was alright but the benzos may dull the effects of the speed. If I were you, I would have dosed the speed first then used the benzos to come down.

Mixing any other benzo with xanax isn't a good idea for the sake of harm reduction, as xanax is potent enough as it is.
Both xanax and ativan are short acting benzos with a very similar half life.
Please don't mix the two again.
