At What Price Drug War? Afghans Accuse U.S. of Secret Spraying to Kill Poppies

america is constantly fighting its 'drug war' around the world... if bush thinks killing off the opium supply in afgan is gonna cut down the amounts coming into the US, of course hes going to... they do the same stuff to coca farmers in south america and such all the time, its no real secret... of course they 'do not recall' or 'know nothing of such an incident' but really not everyone can be that completely stupid, can they? please, someone tell me not everyone is THAT entirely dumb, i fear for the children..

This is the most fucked up thing I ever heard. Tell me, ... is this really true that America would do this? Endager, people and animals for the sake of killing drug crops?

This is way to fucked up to be true, but I somehow do not doubt America would do this shit. I fucking hate America.

"Its shit like this that makes me wonder why the USA hasnt been attacked again...."

No shit right? There are some things I'd like to say about our government but I won't because I'm afraid if I do I'll be arrested. :) This isn't the first time there has been suspicion of the US spraying opium crops.

There is more if you look. Taking into account what we have done in Colombia, you're either poorly informed of a fucking idiot if you're skeptical or the US's involvement in these operations.

Words cannot express my disgust with this country and government.

See guys, the american troops out of the country, are probably alcoholic to start off, and probably just assholes, i doubt they have alot of structure/rules. (This reminds me of Correctional officers in a jail) Ignorant, rude, assholes

I doubt U.S. would have caused the spraying. Think of how many other "War on Drugs" there are from other countries.

This could even be a domestic issue in the country. I don't think we have alot of Cessnas over there. We'd probably use helicopter anyways, speculation though.

that is quite possibly the stupidest thing ive heard in a long time... i mean seriously these are actual people you are talking about not just 'the americans, those bastards' you need a serious check to see how far your head is up your ass i mean not only is what you said just fucking dumb but most of the troops dont even want to be where they are sent, it is their country's leader's decision (generally, dont quote me on it i know its more complicated than that) and so the troops can only make the best of what is handed to them.... when life gives you lemons, make lemonade... so basically if you joined the military and your leader decides to ship you off to possibly die in some foriegn land, get drunk... they drug test constantly so its not like they are gonna sit around a big bong and chill out

edit: sorry about getting off topic there, read my earlier post to see my opinions on the article... read this post again to read what i have to say about a stupid response

You ever seen video footage on the news of US troops, and how CRUEL and MEAN they can be??! OBVIOUSLY NOT, there are honest, good troops, and MEAN selfish ones too. And why are you being so mean to my post, telling me to get my head up my ass? Come on grow up.

(I was watching the news, and the US troops raided an abandon house, and saw an iraqi CIVILIAN, scared shitless faking that he is dead, and the troop said "Look that fucker is faking it", then the US soldier shot the guy, then he said "Not Anymore")

i am not making that up either, i seen it on the news. Of course they bleeped out the swear words.

I love how the government acts like they're trying to figure out what the substance is and who did it. How stupid do they think people are? Maybe it's just me, but wouldn't it be pretty damn hard for some anti-drug vigilante to fly planes around Afghanistan. US controls the airways there. If they didn't have something to do with it, than theres almost no explanation for it. Who else would want to get rid of the opium crops and actually be able to fly a plane over them? This is just one more reason why we need to get the fuck out of there. The next terrorist attack on US should involve ruining some tobbacco farms.

You make a very valid point which I respect...and Yes, I have seen how mean and cruel the soldiers can be.....can you blame them though?

I mean look who they are dealing with over there in Iraq!!? These idiots are willing to strap bombs to themselves and blow up whoever they can! They don't care about the innocent civilians that they kill...the children, the elderly, the women. They just don't give a rats ass.

Our government has sent these men and women to a foreign country under false pretenses. The ones who are paying for it are the innocent people in Iraq, and OUR soldiers. :( I just find it tough to critisize these brave men and women. I'm sure in some instances the soldiers conduct is most definitely wrong, but they are only human.

If I were a soldier over there...damn straight I would be mean.....and maybe even cruel. Sometimes just to survive in a place such as Iraq, you gotta pull out the can of whoop ass. :\

While I agree with you, I think it should be pointed out that while we've lost less than 1500 soldiers in iraq (the severely wounded number is many times higher, of course), over 10,000 iraqis have been killed in this war, and that's one of the more conservative estimates :\ If the ratio of death to serious injury is 5:1 for US troops (also a conservative estimate), that makes for 50,000 iraqis injured, assuming the ratios are roughly similar (logic makes me think they should be).

Our loss of life pales in comparison to their loss of life, that's a fact. Children under 5 are being killed and decomposing in the street there, while none of our dead troops were under 18.

Think about that.

^^ :( I do think about that.....it's awful & it breaks my heart (and angers me). However, the insurgents are killing quite a few innocents themselves.
All of it is just one hugely frustrating...very sad mess :\

I just pray something GOOD comes out of all of this for the Iraqi people.:\

Soldiers do what they're told. The government pays for their housing, their food, their car, everything. So they do what the government says. Sure there are a lot of things a soldier does that he doesn't like. There's things a soldier does that makes him want to cry for humanity. But he does them. Because a soldier does what he's told. I'm glad they exist and do what they do. Cause if they weren't doing it, it would be me and you.

i serouisly doubt its any country other than america, the fact that they head the war on drugs, they do this sort of thing all the time, they are still present in afghanistan and have the only military aircraft in Afghanistan capable of this sort of spraying all leads to the conclusion America did it.

I hate America, well the govt. anyways

You have to admit, a lot of ignorant morons join the armed forces.

It's either that, or they stay in their trailer and watch Jerry Springer reruns all day, faunicating with siblings :)

But yeah, there are some totally awesome, honorable, intelligent and considerate troops too!

Then again, they've probably killed themselves by now.
