Hi-

I was just wondering when, in your lives, you guys started to understand the appeal of altering your consciousness rather than having the "drugs are bad!" idea that many younger children have?

For me, the onset of my mood issues really triggered it. I, like many, use substances to deal with that. Me and my friends have called it "coke to cope."

anyway, just wondering what your experiences have been, because my change in that attitude has been fairly recent since i'm still, in the sceme of things, very young.

When I was first told about them, as a 12 year old in drugs-education classes at school. I just found them fascinating, and have done ever since.

The first time I heard about LSD, I swore on my life to hunt it down and try it at least once before I die. This was all a good 6 years ago, many years before I started experimenting.

I have always been into altered states of consciousness. As a kid, I was very interested in dreams and had more vivid and detailed dreams than anyone I knew. Alice in Wonderland also called out to my soul, although this might sound generic.

I remember being 15 in my biology class rushing to claim the chapter on drugs and the body when we had to do a project on the subject matter of one of the chapters in our book. I would say that I was 14 when they started to captivate me. I really started to read and research about them when I turned 16 or 17. My first drug experience was when I was 16 with some Vicodin laying around in the medicine cabinet, then again with some codeine/promethazine syrup (not enough to get high, unfortunately). I also tried smoking catnip somewhere during this time period. Ha!

Fast forward to the point where I enter college at 17 nearing 18 and I finally have the liberty to experiment. My first notable drug experiences were with DXM, delving blissfully into the third plateau after fumbling about about at the second plateau prior to discovering dosage calculators. I'm indebted to those amazing experiences, and DXM remains among my favorite substances to this day, a little over 2 years and ~40 substances later.

Discovery

I found a bottle of vicodin in the med chest at 14 went on the internet nothing much in 95 so i took one and from there MJ, Booze, LSD, X, All pain killers, Benzos, GHB, H and now finally Subutex.

i was ten when i first smoked pot and tried alcohol, i was full blown addicted to cocaine and tried quaaludes by age 13, and was smoking heroin as well as using PCP and acid by age 16.

also at 16 i tried ecstacy, speed, was an alcoholic, and was perscribed barbiturates(in which i became addicted to).

Even if I didn't actually tried pot for the first time before I was 16 and then drugs I really like at 20 (but it's now, at 25, that I fully enjoy a huge variety of compounds), I was fascinating by drugs when I was, like, 11. I had read "Christiane F." (yes, I know) and was convinced my ideal life would be to be a prostitute heroin addict. 8)

barbiturates prescribed to a 16 year old?

if you don't mind me asking, was this a long time ago, i really doubt that any psychiatrist would be doing that nowadays

tobacco weed and alcohol around age 14 and it stayed primarily those until i tried acid + mush around age 16 and then coke, benzos, opiates when i went off to college.

I began to understand their appeal at about age 16, but it wasn't for 2-3 more years that the downhill path I was on became more clear.

First, as far back as I can remember I've wanted to escape reality. I'd daydream, come up with stories and see them play out in my head like a movie. Growing up I envied Alice, being able to leave the real world behind. Anyway...

My older sisters pretty much gave me the know of things (smoking, drinking, tripping, ect) when I was 8, that's when I found it appealing. A way to escape without really going anywhere, I started researching everything I could think of. Seeing my sisters and their friends sometimes really stupidly fucked up I swore I'd never do anything like that O.o didn't last long, too tempting, too much pull, and way, way too much fun.

Started at;
11-prescription pills
12-pot and cigs (Cutting myself, it counts in my mind cause cutting releases endorphins, the bodies natural morphine)
13-drinking, coke, meth, and ecstasy
15-nitrous
17-shrooms
18-acid
20-ketamine, and molly (yes I know it's mdma like e, but it's different mmkay)
21-mephadrone, and 2c-e

I believe that's where I'm at for now, can't wait to see what being 22 brings me this year

i hope this isn't going too far, and i understand if you don't want to talk about this, but did you ever get addicted to any of those drugs? especially the meth and coke, those jump out as the most addictive

The question was, when did your attitude towards the use of drugs and what they do change. Not please let's have another thread to add to the pile of people listing the ages they did specific drugs. seriously . where did you read ' state what drugs you've done and what age'!!!

13. I remember i said i wouldn't do drugs because I never understood why you would want to. Now I understand. I don't do it because it's cool or cuz I want an escape from reality or anything(though i won't deny I have used drugs like that). I merely find it extremely enjoyable.
