I take a lot of different Medications. One thing that came to mind was changing one of my medication. I want to get off this Haldol Crap and trade it for Nuplazid. They work differently from one another. Haldol is mainly a Dopamine agonist and Nuplazid works by selective targeting the 5-HT2a an works as an inverse agonist of Serotonin and has zero effect on the Dopamine. Which sounds great to me and I'd like to try it. Hopefully it can help me out mentally because I have Schizoaffective disorder Bipolar type. So, I think testing out Nuplazid is a good idea. I'm actually on a few antipsychotics. Right now I take Clozapine, Chlorpromazine and Haldol, But I want to change my medication to Clozapine, Chlorpromazine and Nuplazid. What are your thoughts on this ?

I understand the wanting to get off a 1st generation antipsychotic.

Im not a doctor but if I understand correctly haldol is, of those 3, the most "heavy". If I were you, I'd want to make sure with a doctor that the dopamine part is being treated.. chlorpromazine affects the dopamine right? A little bit, not as much as haldol if I understand correctly?

Anyway, schizoaffective BP subtype if I recall correctly is closer toward the psychosis type of bipolar. Psychosis if I understand correctly is pretty directly related to dopamine - hence why meth, and cocaine can cause psychosis / paranoia.

So again, id just want to make sure with your doctor that the dopamine levels are being treated sufficiently. So that there is not psychosis relapse, because I am not sure if chlorpromazine alone would do the job - Only you and your doctor would know that.

And for the record, I have bipolar disorder, so I'm not just making shit up 😀

Well... I'm going to ask for an increase in Chlorpromazine anyway. So, that will take care of that when it comes to a Dopamine antagonist.
