seeing is seeing
just a poisonous fragrance
belief is for those who have seen
what was sure to come
as sure as that which
has perished in fire
can't show you
what ripples have once outlined
tame in its wake
shallow graves in its setting
the form and the function
will never reason with cause
it will wash out the tears
wave after wave
till crimson appears pallid
and vision returns
reassembled from shards
of our broken hopes
then it will let us forget
all and everything
for one more glorious moment
and make us dance
under the steel sky
