Artificial feeling?

ive been a distance runner for about 8 years and i can tell you that the amazing opiate rush and nod is leaps and bounds better than the runner's high although i love both....i dont think it feels artificial at all

It depends on which drugs you take, really.

Synthetic drugs feel very artificial. The high from them just seems... forced. The body doesn't like this awkwardness, so hangover is usually present. These include: MDMA, PCP, DXM, Amphetamines.

Drugs that have been growing on earth since the beginning of humanity certainly don't feel artificial: DMT, Psilocybin, Cannabis, Opium, Cocaine, feel very clean and do not produce next day hangovers. And afterall, what is so artificial about consuming plants? And these are the drugs that are chemically closer to the drugs our body produces on its own.

FYI, cocaine is semi-synthetic, it is not natural. the coca plant however is.

this is nonsense opium most certainly has a comedown as does cocaine-even pure if you do enough you feel shit when its gone.

this arguement is so stupid

opium has a comedown? i've never noticed any kind of comedown from any opioids ever.

also, pure cocaine hcl shouldn't have much of a comedown at all.

I think the hangover from opium is the tiredness/nausea that happens the next day if you smoke a lot of it and then pass out.
From opiates the hangover is usually associated with blowing the filler material in the pills. At least I think it's that. Some brand name pills are way easier on the nose/head than generics. And since active ingredients are required by law to remain identical from bran name to generic I would assume it's the inert stuff that makes the difference.

@ CoffeeDrinker: "From opiates the hangover is usually associated with blowing the filler material in the pills."

What? Maybe if you are addicted to opiates you may feel sick the next day if you don't redose on opiates soon enough, but for someone who's not I've never heard of anyone having an opiate hangover. In fact, the day after opiates I usually feel better than I do on a day-after-not-consuming-drugs regardless of ROA.

@ chrisinabox: "FYI, cocaine is semi-synthetic, it is not natural. the coca plant however is."

Actually cocaine is fully natural. (semi)synthetic means it is chemically manipulated/built to produce the end product and/or does not exist in nature. The cocaine molecule is already present in the coca plant, it just needs to be extracted (an extraction is not a synthesis, its similar to a phase change (or a series thereof). Just like N,N-DMT, it exists in many plants, but must be extracted in order to vaporize it properly. However, I'm not sure if Cocaine exists naturally as a hydrochloride salt, so if not then maybe the added hydrochloride would make it very slightly "semi-synthetic," but to be realistic I don't think the addition of a loosely-bonded salt compound should cause a natural molecule to be considered "(semi)synthetic."

When I say "hang-over" i just mean the negative feelings like headache/nausae that you get within an hour or two after blowing it. I'm not talking about dopesickness.
I find that I when I blow a generic pill of some kind it hurts the nose a little more and gives me a headache down the line. I'm definitely not alone in this sentiment.

What was it that Huxley, borrowing from Blake, said of mescaline?

"If the doors of perception were cleansed every thing would appear to man as it is, infinite. For man has closed himself up, till he sees all things through narrow chinks of his cavern."

Although I think he's wrong there, as well. Seems to me there is no objective reality, no infinite. Just infinite subjective realities.

Oh I know, not necssarily wrong at all. Who am I to write off somebody who, in the 1950s, was widely seen as "the cleverest man alive." I haven't even read Blake, nevermind finding a golden quote of Blakes, and turning it into a beautiful necklace.

Always look on the bright side of life!
If everyone has infinite subjective realities couldn't that be considered one infinite objective reality?
That's how I see it anyway.

An objective truth then surely, rather than an objective reality.

Meh.

The important point, one worth restating: drugs definately do get you high.

If you are receiving headache/nausea side effects within two hours, then most likely your dose is too high (what I like to call head-nausea b/c the nauseous feeling seems centered in the head rather than stomach). The only way you should have a headache is after re-dosing on opiates multiple times the same day. But if you feel uncomfortable within two hours, then either the dose is too high (I always get 'head-nausea' when overdosing) or your body is extremely sensitive to opiates' side-effects. If you hit just the right dose, you should be blissful without any negative side-effects (at least for the initial 3 hours).
