Article on PMA!

She washed down a few and waited for the drug's effects to kick in.
arrghhh... washed down a "few"? how many is a few? 2? 3? jesus...
if there is one thing i hope we all have learned during our time here at Bluelight is that taking mulitple pills in a short period of time is dangerours, especially if we have no idea what's in those pills, as this poor, stupid, girl obviously didn't...
but on re-reading i wonder if this was her ignorance or the journalists? was it just phrased that way because the journo had no idea how people should take pills? hmmmm

I often wonder the same myself JB, I mean is it actual fact or is journalistic sensalisation.

Subject: [dsafe] article in salon
Hi everyone,
I am going to be speaking to the parents of this young woman who died from taking an "ecstasy" tablet which contained PMA. The article is very moving. It brought me to tears. The 20-20 reporter who is doing a story on us says that her mother supports DanceSafe and harm reduction. I will also be calling the father of Steve Laurens, another young person who died from PMA in the Chicago area, and the parents of Jason Burnett, the third victim of PMA.
I am going to listen to their stories and then tell them what we do, and see if they are interested in working with us to prevent these tragedies from happening in the future. I'll let you all know how the conversations work out.
Emanuel

Allow me to add to the knowledge, this is from a thread at the hive.. . ..
4-ma
reply:
I hear PMA is a very very dangerous drug. Check Erowid. It can elevate body temp to the point of brain damage, coma and organ failure.
reply:
every drug is dangerous, it is a matter of dose and (ab)using frequency, but in my opinion it is not our problem what somebody does with his body. the other point is that 4-PMA is not worth the trouble neither with the production nor with the side effects
because it has such a bad rush only comparible with 'somebody kicks me in the face but from inside'. although i'm surely not the brightest light i never felt as stoopid as after 4-PMA. the day after i felt like george foreman while rumble in the djungle. so my advise forget 4-PMA dream about MDMA or something else
reply:
Maybe it's not my business to tell someone what to do with their body but I'll be damned if I'm not going to point to the dangers of a drug which could possibly be fed to others.
reply:
I do believe The Hive was formed in a quest for freedom of knowledge and to share it with those who seek it out. Failure to supply known, relevant, important facts to someone defeats the whole purpose of this message board (except when the asker is a lazy asshole who expects to be spoonfed information). And, yes, I am guilty of asking several questions that I could have looked up
myself. If you really feel like you don't give a shit about others when their lives could be at stake, you need to find yourself another fucking message board.
reply:
sorry, of course you're right if you point to the dangers of a drug and so i should do too, but i'm not everybodies mother.
i'' ll finish my study of medicine soon - and i have the face to say that i've a bit more knowledgement about pharmacology & toxicology than some other strangers in the hive, but that's no reason for me to mention all secundary effects, LD50's etc. to somebody who asked a very common question about 4-PMA.
4-PMA is a dangerous drug but every drug has it's own dangers, thats why they are forbidden to most of us! I thought nearly every stranger or bee or whatever had read it at the start page.
finally i agree with you, it is our problem will say it's our duty to warn peoples who gave us the impression that they are'nt informed enough.
PS: life is the most important thing we have and i try to save every human life if i have the possibility to do it
PPS: i'm sorry that my language style is a bit wooden but english isn't my mother tongue i only use it for reading sience articles.
reply:
1. 4-PMA is is a pleonasm. para is position 4, so you say 4-MA or PMA. ok, sorry for nitpicking
2. i remember a thread about PMMA which sounds quite interesting, but with a very steep dose/response curve.
3. i remember a thread where sbdy asked what he can do with PMA, but i didnt get its outcome. i bet sbdy tryed to halogenate PMA. anybody knows
