Contains a lot of fairly common information about the majority of 'rave'-related drugs, and a few glaring flaws.

Now that report is a year old so i am hoping that this has changed but..
MDMA schedule I
GHB schedule I
and
Methylamphetamine schedule II.
That is the most ridiculous thing i have EVER seen. It shows that scheduling is obviously done on relative stigma of the drug and media angst.
IMO, along with the big H, meth is the hardest drug around - insanely addictive and potentially making users a danger to others; yet they consider it less dangerous and less potential for abuse (????) than MDMA and GHB! Both which have medical value and hence technically should not be categorised as schedule I anyway.
(Unless of course meth is prescribed similarly to d-amphetamine here, but i highly doubt that is the case)
Its just crazy.
Tell me they have since changed it.

mdma has always been a schedule 1 drug in america.. its all about the $$ in america.. marijuana would still be legal if it wasnt for the cotton industry protecting itself, which means it would be legal all around the world..
a lot of doctors have been pushing for mdma to be taken off schedule 1, as it would allow some medical tests etc to be done on it, both therapeutic (spelling) and on long term effects etc..
although some people in positions of some power in america are realising that the "war against drugs" isnt working.. i came across some real media clips from a radio broadcast from the usa a while ago that quoted figures on how much the US gov spends on the anti drug campain etc compared to just how much the illegal drug trade generates, and they realise they are fighting a loosing battle (in relation to all drugs tho.. )
doctors in america have always been against the schedule 1 classification of mdma, but as always no one listens to the experts..

My prob isnt necessarily that MDMA is sched I (well i have a problem with that too) but thats its considered more serious than methylamphetamine.
I mean wtf??!!!
I presumed it has changed though, meth is starting to take over the states like Crack did and look what that substance did to that country.
Meth labs being busted all over the place etc.

With the way that America has handled drugs and politics in the past, I would not stop so quickly as to imagine that the US Government is once again getting involved in funny business.
We are all human I guess!

Isn't meth a pharmacuetical drug aswell. Oxycontin i think it is.?
It's used in the treatment of obesity.

Oxycontin tablets actually contain Oxycodone HCl, which is a pain killer derived from the opiate alkaloid, thebaine. Oxycodone is a short name for 14-hydroxydihydrocodeinone.
The pharmaceutical you're thinking of is possibly Desoxyn, of which the active ingredient is Methamphetamine HCl, that is prescribed as an appetite-suppressant and sometimes as a treatment for ADHD.

uumm i can see perfectly why meth would be on schedule 2 and not 1...they tend to put drugs in schedule 1 that they are seeing a rise in usage amoung ppl. and well being from North america myself...and spending equal tim in america and canada (being a duel citizen) i can say that the use of meth over there... is PALE!!! in comparison to over here..no one touches the stuff..came over here and i was like WTF?!?
u may hear about all kinds of labs being busted ect...but you've gotta thinkin terms of ration of ppl ect....and thinking that way meth is used WAY more here then there...i can say of all the ppl i have ever met and ever talked to in any kind of drug situation...not ONE of them has ever done meth...where as here EVERY SINGLE person i have met/talked to has done the stuff...
now thats quite a difference if you ask me!
