mod closed my thread so ill be more specific. what are the symptoms of an artery shot other than swelling? i don't even know if its an actual artery shot i'm trying to confirm if thats what it is. how deep is the artery in the crook of elbow? i hit the same spot i usually do and had a reaction i had never happened before but the blood wasn't bright and wasn't fast-flowing. the needle slipped out and then had a serious histamine reaction all along my arm, extremely fast. the rash went away but my hand is still swollen, a little sore. does this sound like an artery shot? is there something really obvious that would clearly tell me? thanks in advance for any help

this sounds more like a histamine reaction, but hard to say without seeing it. I do recommend seeing a doctor for proper examination.
artery shots would be huge swelling,pulsatile, bright red and have possible occlusion (blockage) at a point away from the site by drugs etc, and so there would be an area towards the fingers that is painful, cold, pale, and you can check it by pressing down on it for 3 seconds and letting go to see it go back to pink within three seconds. 3 sec capillary refill shows blood flow is good to that area.
histamine is released by opiates, and that's why people itch sometimes. i've had it happen to me and not sure if it's a local reaction to the drugs or to a dirty hit, but it's usually along the vein and just that area swells where i shot up, then it goes red and after an hour it's back to normal. maybe pain from bruising sometimes. just be careful of clots along the vein too.
the artery is not far down into the skin just above the elbow next to where your biceps muscle ends. you can feel it if you locate the biceps m. then the artery slips under the aponeurosis (tendon like cover) and it more protected. try use other sites and vary it up a little so you don't iook like such a junky. feel the vein and go up and down along it. keep everything clean and fresh.

yes this helps thank you. i believe i did hit the artery, the top of my hand is still swollen but i had surgery on it last week that might have aggravated the symptoms. blood flow is good though and no signs of ischemia 14 hours later. honestly i only put in about 10 units (1/10thcc) and it was a wash so it was really clear. i think i was really lucky though it could be way worse. ill keep posted

I really can't emphasize enough that if you think you are in imminent danger, you should always go to the ER. Injecting drugs is serious business and not to be taken lightly. Any complications will make you paranoid and worried until you get it checked out, especially when you have had a procedure in the same area recently. Because you recently had surgery on that hand, I would still highly recommend that you see a doctor as soon as possible because bacteria or particulates from your shot could be fucking up the healing of your hand - this would result in gangrene, botulism, or other serious problems. Please see a doctor as soon as possible.
