Arrested for not wearing a mask?

Anyone can find a strip of fabric to fashion a crude mask with. Its more about reducing the spread than to prevent contracting it.

Well of course, I never said that we shouldn't try to reduce the spread. I hope a vaccination comes out soon, herd immunity is VERY important.

But wearing a mask does help, and it is important. I agree that a crude mask can be made, but it actually takes several layer of material to effectively block droplets.

I know, but I only went outside my house for 2 seconds

It is 21pm and applause is heard throughout the city, car horns, some shots, they do it every day for weeks at this hour
Supposedly they are thanking the doctors, police and all the people who help control the pandemic ... and few people are really respecting quarantine, that is a little more stupid

My city is howling at 8:00PM every night to support healthcare workers

I heard it only lives for about 3 days on hard surface. So what exactly are you trying to say?

Ok. Let me explain. For a start, masks are NOT hard surfaces - which is good because Covid-19 has been shown to be able to 'survive' on a hard surface for up to 7 days. This 'lifespan' is reportedly much reduced on an absorbent surface than can interfere with the lipid layer that protects the virus.

However...

I was listening to an interview with a virologist on the radio yesterday and they were saying that a bog standard surgical mask when used outside of a surgical context has an effective lifespan of about 15 minutes. This is because the warm, damp environment caused by breathing provides a perfect breeding ground for bacteria. In addition, it promotes more face touching because people tend to regularly adjust the mask having touched many potentially contaminated surfaces.

This creates a repository for bacteria and viruses other than just Covid-19.

Then there is the concept of 'viral load' to take into consideration. This is the hypothesis that severity of effects is directly proportional to exposure to the virus.

Therefore, it stands to reason that having a cheap paper mask or homemade rag on your face rapidly accumulating pathogens in NOT a good idea...

Is it that much of an inconvenience?

Wearing a mask will slow the spread of an ultra contagious and potentially fatal disease that is spread expelled and recieved through the mouth and nose. It is not unreasonable to require people to cover their mouth and nose nor is it much of an inconvenience, considering the implications of contracting the virus.

Well yes for me actually it is. I have to wear glasses and the mask fogs them up and when that happens I can't see. I do wear one inside stores, but the second I leave the store, the mask comes off so that I can see properly and breathe properly.
