Fretting over a scenario in which armed U.S. soldiers could be called to the border — or even over it — to hold back lawlessness and violence, Undersecretary of the Army Joseph Westphal invoked a contentious word to describe Mexico’s problem with drug cartels:

He called it an “insurgency.”

“As all of you know, there is a form of insurgency in Mexico with the drug cartels that’s right on our border.”

“This isn’t just about drugs and about illegal immigrants,” he said. “This is about, potentially, a takeover of a government by individuals who are corrupt.”

Westfall — who said he was expressing a personal opinion, but one he had shared with the White House — said he didn’t want to ever see a situation in which “armed and fighting” American soldiers are sent to combat an insurgency “on our border, in violation of our Constitution, or to have to send them across the border.”

Woo, more money for the paramilitary industry! More deaths and still control over who makes all the drugs before innocents get arrested, alright!

(If you are in the US military and you go to fight a war on drugs in another country, that's too damn bad if you die you drone.)

I doubt this will happen, though.

Lol @ insurgency... and more of Hilary Clinton being a stupid bitch this week when talking about drug related subjects.

I do not think that is whats needed down there. maybe ten years ago, but its too fuckin late now. The US government is a bunch of greedy, close minded capitalists that need to wake up and smell the meth labs. you can not have a society over run with corruption and dirty politics.

If theres one thing that needs to be done, its decriminalizing every single god damn drug that has been used in the past 60 years. cus every single one of those drugs is being used at this very second. its the US' and likely [one of the worlds] biggest source of capital. and its responsible for infinitely more deaths and dysfunctional lives with our current legislation. imagine what would happen if we ended the longest, stupidest, and most expensive war this country ever started? 8)

DEA employees would lose their jobs; prisons who pay inmates 20c/h salary lose a bunch of slaves; certain organizations would lose their additional profits from smuggling cocaine; media loses a source of sensational news; police would lose significant amount of funding; the US would lose some of its influence in independent southern states etc etc etc.

Quoting a certain hottie politician: "There's just too much money in it"

But, the prisoners cost for a life term is $1.5 million. You tell me if that's worth the 20c an hour. Don't tell me we need people in prison jackass.

How many military people does the US have? Iraq, Afgahnistan now Mexico? Only this time, if they make that mistake, it might backfire on the US. Alot of soldiers are tired of fighting these so called 'wars'. Many of these soldiers have both nationalities so who knows what could happen. The last I checked, Bin Laden was still MIA. That should be the main concentration for the US.
I really beleive this will get very ugly for the US if they attempt to invade Mexico. Better think twice this time.
