Ladies & Gentlemen, recording live here at Fundas Gone Mental Studio, we
present to you, the nutcase that needs no further introduction........herrrrrrrrrrres TJ! LMAO
(TJ playing guitar, then singing,)
"Are you sober tonight?
Read the Big Book tonight?
Are you calling your sponsor on time?
Complacency is a threat
That you'll live to regret
If you try to avoid any one of the 12 steps
Your programs and meetings you must always maintain
Unless of course you all want to go back insane
Are you there?
Yes I dare
To remind you to drop a dime
In order to protect your sober time"
(TJ playing guitar, speaking,)
"I wonder if you're sober tonight?
You know someone once said
Once an alchie always and alchie
Fate had you and booze playing a part
Act I was when you met
Booze read his lines so cleverly
And never missed a cue
Then Act II came
He acted strange
And why you did not know
Honey booze lied when he said he loved you
And you didn't want any cause to doubt him
For like you I'd rather go on hearing his lies
Then to go on living without him
If he wouldn't come back
Then we said might as well bring the curtain down
Then AA walked in
Much to booze's chagrin
And insisted time and again
As a group we can bare
And constantly share
Sobriety and honesty if we dare"
(TJ playing guitar, singing final verse,)
"Complacency is a threat
That you'll live to regret
Tell me dear, are you sober tonight?
Do do do do do doooooo"
(TJ speaking, no longer playing guitar)
"Thank you. Thank you very much."
(TJ walks back behind the dark curtain retreating back to TJville..wherever that is...lol)
Male voice over PA system, "Ladies & Gentlemen, TJ has left the building!"
7/8/03
Epilogue: Did you know that 16 yrs ago, while loaded on painkillers, called up an AA Club,
& sang a similar rendition of above ballad to unknown male stranger when he answered the phone? Yes, a bit of TJ Trivia for you folks. What was also amuzing was that the stranger got a laugh out of it, even though a hang up was expected. After song was over, TJ hung up. Another random spontaneous singing to some poor unsuspecting anonymous alchie.
