Are you in the "I haven't noticed any negative side effects" camp?

You've got a mild physical dependence and significant psychological dependence... The physical dependence can be easily over come by a gradual reduction over a couple of weeks, the psychological dependence is due to you, not the weed. If you weren't on weed you'd probably be an alcoholic or doing meth or something, be happy you chose the safest of all recreational drugs.

Don't blame weed for your inability to manage your own money or deal with your emotional/psychological problems. If you could no longer get weed from today onwards I promise you than soon enough you'd find yourself trapped in some other form of maladaptive psychological situation- maybe it would be alcohol, quite possibly you would go crazy on benzos, but it would be something unless you can address your own internal issues (which I am not blaming you for, but I am not blaming the weed either).

Weed is addictive, but only mildly so. Only certain types end up smoking it 24/7, and its not the weed fault they are that way, its just damn fortunate they are not doing something worst (thus weed can be quite protective of people abusing more serious habits / drugs). It can cause paranoid type thoughts, anxiety, laziness and forgetfulness but this is only a transient effect, which might be prominent in some people that smoke it 24 / 7.

I used to abuse it, because I admit, I have psychological issues, but I am self aware, and I have modified my use to healthier levels and I now also have a life.

The VAST majority of people can handle their weeds, but in a junkie forum (I don't mean this in an insulting way), I am not surprised to hear of all the people with super addictive personalities / drug wired personalities to complain they smoke too much weed. Note: I almost never blame people for how they are, but I will defend weed, I think its a good thing, it should be legal. Its not perfect, but in opinion overall it is the best of all drugs. Don't get me wrong, I wish I knew of some "super drug" that was non-addictive, caused lovely moods 24/7, and had no side effects even in chronic usage, but as of yet no such thing has been discovered.

Meh: Sorry for the double post.

I think it's pretty assholish of you to assume if I didn't smoke pot I'd be addicted to alcohol or meth. I don't think you can make that assumption, as you don't know me, and I was certainly not the first person in this thread to type the response I did. I did NOT "blame" weed for inability to manage money, if you actually read my post, which you clearly did not, or Chainer's post, or most of the posts on the first page discussing negative impact, mentioning our bank accounts since they've been impacted is important, and part of this thread. WE ARE DISCUSSING WHETHER OR NOT WE'VE NOTICED ANY NEGATIVE SIDE EFFECTS, you have ABSOLUTELY no right to come in here and tell us we'd be addicted to something else or it's "just weed get over it." That's why we have our own forum here on BL, where we can discuss cannabis, since it is a drug, and NOT have you come tell us that weed has nothing to do with it. Any further off topic posts like this, or insulting me or one of the other moderators, will result in a warning and then an infraction. Please read posts before you make really stupid responses to them, or bash the poster, since that isn't what we are here for as a harm reduction site, and you will be reprimanded for that behavior.

Do I even have to say anything? I mean seriously, lol. This is perhaps one of the most absurd things I've read on CD in a good while, because you say it with such conviction and certainty. I am glad you are able to single-handedly diagnois everyone with a draw to cannabis as having a dependence disorder - and calling it significant at that! Ha!

Circular reasoning for the win! If you smoke weed and have finacial difficulities, it is nothing like having a collection of [movies, videogames, action figures, baseball cards, etc - any release in the mesolimbic pathway] and having financial difficulties - you must have a maladaptive psychological disorder!

I smoked a lot more heavily when I was younger - I have always taken breaks pretty reasonably (every 3 months of smoking = 1 month break), I have not experienced any unnatural anxiety, laziness, or paranoia... I may give you I forget things, like what I want out of the goddamn refrigerator, not any vital information. This will differ for everyone, which underlines your conception that anyone who smokes a lot of weed has some deep, underlying psychological issue.

I used to abuse it, because I admit, I have psychological issues, but I am self aware, and I have modified my use to healthier levels and I now also have a life.

This is what we like to call "projection".

Anything will have side effects when you are abusing it, so long as it releases some dopamine... sorry, doesn't even have to be a drug (see: gambling addiction). FYI - cannabis' "w/d"s and negative sides effect list... well it is laughable compared to others. As I said above, you will never find such a thing, because abstract concepts which aren't even related to a drug can be addictive in nature of action or conception and release of dopamine.

In no way does your post stand up, unless you were trollin' - then it was good for a reactionary post from a few people.

K I've been smoking for 3 years now and Dude ive smoked weed at leaaaast once everyday if not more usually. I use harder drugs such as M or CID once a year tops.
And your right. I have not experienced hardly any side effects from weed except 2 .

1) it tends too make me very introverted and self consious about what I say too others. So too avoid this feeling I stay quiet like a zombie.Weed tends too make me see myself from other ppls persectives and this is basically the cause of this problem.

2) everrr so recently I've noticed when I'm high or even sober my short term memory has gone too shit!!! Someone says something and I sometimes can't remember what they said.
I have a good grade avg tho :S

^ See I'm the exact opposite. When I smoke I feel more comfortable so I get louder, say what I want, come across less introverted/insecure which is something that I am naturally. The cannabinoids enhance my calm and therefore my confidence..

You need to change your company. Be with someone that would be happy to sit with you without you having to say anything for hours and even if you did talk about something mundane like the weather they wouldn't mind. That way you can let your mind wander and talk about anything you feel like and it'll not be a problem. That's the only way IMO, short of taking a benzo or something to suppress the scial anxiety.

Really, the only thing that I get every once in a while is moderate anxiety when I'm not smoking, but I already had anxiety problems to begin with so that is probably irrelevant, but other than that I haven't noticed anything negative yet.

That's as good as admittance to having mild social anxiety/low self-esteem. it seems obvious youre in denial about your use, so it shouldn't be hard to recognize dude. we all smoke for different reasons, so when you begin ignoring some of them (or lieing to yourself), that's when you run into problems.

Yea man im not gonna lie everyday use is not the best way to go unless you can afford it. I have been for 2 years straight.
The only negatives i notice while high or using is 1. i cough up grey shit
2. ummmmmm idk man.
But whe you STOP(for more than a day)... oh boy 1. no desire for food(natural diet pill eh?)
2. no sleep, even for the weary 3. you feel like your a little 'off' for a bit after returning to reality( i mean shit just looks different, in a bad kinda way like you would think insane people see shit like. 4. boy am i pissed and wish i had some dope

Yes I am. I use cannabis as medicine, so I manage my usage, and keep it as low as possible. Right now, I am using about 3 grams a week, solely vaporizing.

Besides some laziness, marijuana has really not had any major negative impact on my life. I have however been screwed over by the prohibition of this plant lol i tend to take breaks every now and then as well. I can however confess that after smoking off and on for 2 years, it has changed my personality without a doubt.

<snip> I have absolutely zero anxiety or social problems, none whatsoever.<snip>
Still toking daily with zero negative side effects, only the propelled consciousness I have come to know and embrace as a facet of my own human experience.

Cannabis is harmless. Smoke is not. BUT I think the negative health aspects of smoking are largely a result of how much is smoked, whether or not its vaporized, if the plant was flushed before harvest, fertilizers used etc. We smoked 3 times a day 7 days a week for like 5 months, and I never got sick, but we had properly flushed herb, and honey oil. The effect it has on my mind isn't quite as clear, it helps me with depression, but it's possible there's a detrimental effect it has too.(as would playing video games too much, although that always made me angry and obsessive)

To me cannabis is harmless... I have noticed some negative effects but not with my body. Yes I was coughing a little more at times but not really. Yet, the negative effects that came along with marijuana is that people would treat me differently. Especially some family members that found out. They looked at me like you're a drug addict now oh no your life is over.... I mean some people lost their trust for me well like some of it which I really don't understand why. Its just that they're are misinformed about marijuana but all I can say is hey whatever you go on and think about that. Yes, I do find myself lecturing them about the positive effects of cannabis and it does help but there are still some who are like no no no it's a drug nothing good comes from drugs.

My story is similar to a lot here. I started off smoking on the weekends and within 6 months it was every day.

For a while there were no real negative effects aside from short term memory loss. Over time though, I developed severe paranoia, panic attacks, inability to eat without weed and other wd symptoms and racing heart when stoned. I was very psychologically addicted however and just continued smoking anyway until the point where I just couldn't take it anymore, my heart would race so bad and I'd chest pains. Not to mention the extreme lethargy afterward. Overall, it was just a really bad drug for me.

For about 1 month of smoking straight I was in that camp. However i've noticed that the more I smoke without taking a break, I start to loose the really good effects. I haven't become paranoid or anything, like when I used to smoke. But I can sense some of the positive effects; how should I say, not feeling as positive.

In other words the high gets boring if you take it for granted. When my tolerance is low smoking actually makes my thought processes flow better; it makes me more creative. The creativity seems to go away though; along with many of the other good effects.

Yeah you still get high, but the good highs are few and far between. First few weeks of smoking is pure euphoria and I like to keep it that way. So it's definently a good idea to take vacations from blazing to keep the postive effects going as strong as possible.

Yesterday was the first day i haven't smoked weed in months, couldn't eat like I usually eat, couldn't fall asleep until 2.

It's called a dependacy, you haven't been smoking long enough yet. Just wait

I try not to smoke everyday, however I normally do anyways. I have noticed negative side-effects, but nothing that is going to keep me from smoking. Slight stomach pain, slight paranoia when high, slight memory loss are all side-effects I experience. In addition to that, if I smoke too close to bed-time then I can't fall asleep. I smoke less than .5 a day through the form of poppers.

Give me a break, it's just weed. Yeah it's slightly addictive. But let me see, you couldn't sleep- and it was hard to eat.

I'll take those for withdrawal effects any day over benzo's/opiates. It just bugs me when people are complaining about weed, just take a break and dont smoke the shit out of it everyday.
