maybe because marijuana is ILLEGAL in the US...that might just play a small role in it. it is also bad for your lungs and inhaling any smoke can't be healthy. i quit during baseball season so i have more motivation and energy. there are plenty of reasons why people up and quit sometimes.

Marijuana being illegal has nothing to do with the reason she is quitting, because doesn't want to quit selling it and she has done so for about 15-20 years to her family members and one very close friend of hers. And your right about any smoke being bad for your lungs but it isn't proven that Marijuana causes lung cancer or any other problems although I'm sure it could cause asthma. And I know you didn't say it causes cancer but you are referring to something similar to that probably.

It just pisses me off when someone smokes pot all their life and is selling it and then just wants to quit but continue to sell it, like all of a sudden she's better than all her friends and her husband because of it?

pot costs money. it's bad for your lungs. it's bad for most people's energy/motivation. it's bad for your memory. some people get anxiety. some people hate having a big tolerance. plenty of reasons to quit

money -> grow it yourself (MOST people could do that, even though they think it's not possible for them)

lungs -> vaporizer ($15 smoke bubble will do)

i agree with the other points made, although i think that some people underestimate marijuana first and then run away from it..

Just curious, those who are addicted to alcohol - how much do you generally drink? How often? Also, what health problems do the serious drinkers notice? Cheers

About a fifth of 40% liquor a night.
Maybe 1-2 days/nights off a week.
[I like to call them A.F.D.'s]

No health problems, that I know of.
That's why I don't get check-ups :)

Generally, unless I bend real hard,
I don't get hangovers.

The 4mgs of Xanax every morning kills a hangover like
no magic known to man.

How long has this been going on? I am mainly curious because I have a lot of freinds who are starting to suffer some nasty health problems as a result of heavy drinking, and I am having some trouble as well. Thanks, cheers.

also marijuana has destroyed my memory and thought process as of late so that would be another reason for me to quit during school. not that i will or anything =D

I've been addicted to a variety of illegal as well as legal drugs over the past 9 years. Currently its opiates and meth-amphetamine. While valium, though legal is taken daily. Over the years marijuana(psychologically) buprenorphine and methadone have been used for periods of time....oh, wait I forgot their legal.:\
I'm suprised by the poll thus far, I thought the majority of bluelighters here would have had addiction problems.

when I got my univ. graduation, which is rare are very well-paid here in portugal, I'd buy 3 grams of coke, then I'd cook them and smoke the crack, though I only did this in weekends (3 grams friday + 3 grams saturday) needles to say that I was going trhough great crack smoking sessions, until I stopped to think that it was no good for me at all, so I stopped smoking crack frequently. Yet, I fel in love with cocaine, and I'm still in love with it, but now I just snort it in nightclubs while drinking scotch (clubs in portugal are great, noone bothers you if you're having a line in the bathroom. I have alot more fun like this, like... I snort a line, have a drink, dance and meet new people instead of being in my house smoking with some fucked-up crackheads.

i've been addicted to morphine hydrocloride, 3 months of daily use, then I just thought I HAD to stop. and I did. nasty whithdrawl, but nothing unbearable.

I had few months of alcohol addiction about 14 years ago, but it was also easy to kick

currently I think I'm getting addicted to opiates...... I didn't used them more than 3 times a month for about a year, but I've done heroin in the last 3 days and I came home today thinking: no opiates today. but I just chewed an oc40.... now I feel guilty...... but in about 5 minutes the oxy will kick in and I won't feel guilty nomore :D

Although it is a lot harder to get addicted to marijuana than other drugs, it is very possible.

i think it happens faster than you think (although there are surely different levels of addiction)

however, if you wake-n-bake for three days, maybe smoke a small bowl in the morning on day 4 and then run out of weed, it can be quite crappy.. if i run out of weed after a few weeks of use (those are the irregular unvoluntary breaks i take), i do feel that something is missing. this effect lasts for a few days, then it will wear off.

falling asleep without marijuana after prolonged use is the worst part :\

can't be a bad idea to become self-sustained when it comes to marijuana.

I'm sure it can happen pretty quick but if you use harder drugs regularly, you are more likely to get addicted to something that has a little more euphoria. I know a lot of people that say they find marijuana psychologically addictive. In general I believe myself to be addicted to drugs, not one particular substance, but more of something that will take me to a different place and give me a nice feeling. I am still currently on an opiate binge and it has been about 20 days and I am actually physically addicted now, I suffered withdrawls 7 or 8 days ago that felt similar to a flu but this is not the first time i have been hooked, last time lasting about 2 or 3 months, and doing up to 200 mgs oxycodone a day. So i guess I can now say I am physically addicted to a drug now too but I am going to ween off starting tomrrow by lowering my dosage by around 3 to 5 mgs a every 3 days and see how this works. I never had ANY problems with marijuana, just drugs in general. I am currently on probation and have been for about a year now and get random drug tests.

Before I was on probation I was smoking about 30 grams of weed a week on average, usually about an eighth a day, sometimes a quarter or a half ounce. I did this for about a year and before I was smoking this heavy, I was still smoking atleast a gram or two everyday except for maybe once or twice every two weeks when I was out. When I started getting drug tested i felt NOTHING missing and actually went about 2 weeks sober from all drugs. I was not depressed at all and didn't feel like anything was missing. I now smoke weed about once a week on friday so I can pass my drug test on monday if I happen to get tested (they don't test me over the weekend, it's not a working day for them).

However this is only for me and others may find this drug to be addictive because it does produce some euphoria, but not too much for me, just a nice relaxed feeling, maybe a little trippy sometimes and feel some happiness. I couldn't see myself getting addicted to this drug unless i didn't use ANYTHING else and it was all I could get a hold of and I was off probation and had smoked daily for like 10 years.

Not any illegal drugs.
I smoke cannabis daily but wouldn't say im addicted. I can quit and not feel bad at all, just a slight craving.

Once had a painkiller habbit but thats in the past.

I smoke and drink daily but there not illegal.
