Sorry if this question may offend anyone, but as we all know majority of addicts of whatever, are in denial about it, but some are true themselves and can admit they are addicted to a certain drug. Me personally, i'm not addicted to any substance, because i don't have the money to be spending hundreds or more a week for something, and mainly because i have done enough research and learned through enough people to realize the after effects, comedowns, withdrawls, paranoia, scabs, and much worst symptoms that come along with addiction. I'm just curious to see if your addicted to anything and what is it, and regarding physical pain what has it caused you? No judgements here thx.

I'm not addicted to drugs.
I'm addicted to not being sober.

RRM, he was looking for serious answers here.

OP, I am not addicted to any substances right now. However, I was addicted to opiates for six months, and cleaned up in September. I am still an occasional user, but it is like twice a month now. Yes, the pain of kicking addiction is a bitch, and really cannot be described in words. At the time it did cause me alot of physical and emotional pain, and it took a long time before my body recovered. Insomnia kicked my ass, I had no energy, never felt like socializing for the longest time, I remember all of it like yesterday, so that has prevented me for falling back in the hole, and keeping my occasional use very disciplined. Unfortunately for me, it was all too easy to be addicted, living in Phoenix everything is EXTREMELY cheap, I won't mention prices due to rules, but it is like 1/4 of what the average person pays for any given thing due to border proximity. I have alot of disposable income with my dad being rather wealthy and generous to me constantly, even though I probably don't deserve it. To this day I still think about opiates alot, I am always wishing to escape sobriety, I just don't let myself give in outside of my moderated use (no going days and days on end ever.) So although I am not addicted, as in I don't get withdrawals, and my body has recovered, I still have a ton of cravings.

These are all things that addicts say to convince themselves and others that they are not addicts.

I am an addict. No withdrawl symptoms physically, but you can bet your ass if I don't have my substance of choice before I leave the house, I am not a pleasant one to be around.
There was a time when I lying, thieving junkie, who would do anything for it.
Not like that now, but still use, and still crave it hardcore, so yes, I am an addict.

Many people are, if you ask me.

I'm currently weaning off an opiate habit that started five years ago as the result of being prescribed hydrocodone.

I'd say nearly everybody who is prescribed benzodiazepines (me included) for long-term use could be considered "addicted". Of course, if you use an illegal drug, its "addiction", if its something prescribed to you its "dependence". Or so you would be led to believe.

I am an opiate/oid addict and an alcoholic. I haven't had a drink in a few years and am now on methadone maintenance.

I don't feel like I am using anything being on MMT now. I no longer self medicate at all and I don't feel the methadone, just don't get sick.

I have found a wonderful AA group that has really had an amazing impact on my life. I used to make fun of 12 step programs but it's crazy how much it has helped me.

Addicted to methadone (I get 130 mg/day), morphine/heroin, dextroamphetamine, temazepam (all benzos in general), and strong opioids.
