Are stamps disappearing from heroin bags?

Just got back into H after a 2 yr or so sabbatical. Anyway, here in the NYC/Northern NJ area, the $10 bags of dope were almost always stamped ("Fire," "D.O.A," "Looney Tunes," etc...") It was a good way to gauge the potency before you bought.
Anyway now, about 2 yrs later, I've gotten dope from at least 5 different guys and none carried any sort of stamp. The rumor going around the park is that a new law has made it possible to hit a dealer with a murder rap if some idiot ODs, so now no one wants to sell stamped bags anymore bc this would make it easier to trace it back to the source.
Is this bunk or has anyone in the NY/NJ area heard something similar?
 
Most are still stamped in NYC. But stamps have never been a good way to judge or pre-judge potency of the dope (King Kong fucking sucks).

Not always man...back when D.O.A was around (which was supposedly a dope/fentanyl combo), if your guy got some of that in stock, you knew you were going for a ride before you even put the stuff in the cooker...
 
^^ The OP just meant that the same stamp was a sign of the same batch of dope, so the quality should be somewhat assertainable(sp?) ahead of time.
 
The stamps were most useful when you had (have) a steady connect. After you've done your first bundle or so, you know about how much you need to get off. Then let's say 6 weeks later, he's got shit with a new stamp. Now you know you need to start out real small until you get a feel for how strong it is.
And of course, if you're copping on the street, people can forge stamps if they want to try to push bunk shit on you; but even if you're not always going to the same guy if you're copping in the same general area chances are it's gonna be from the same higher source and thus about equal potency.

Think about it- you know how the game goes in places like Newark, certain guys controlling certain blocks. Let's say a forged batch of "Fire" gets out on block X. Word gets out on the street now that the "fire" stamp is garbage. People stop going to that spot, start avoiding that stamp. Somebody starts losing money. When the higher up finds out about it, somebody's gonna get a bullet or a beating for costing "the guy" money. Just my experience.

Forged stamps and ones with differing purity are common. The forged ones are the easiest to dodge. Buy from the same place, preferably the same dealer. If its forged, chances are they aren't selling them on the same block as the "real" ones.

As for the purity, yeah it changes. Its common(around here anyway) for them put out banging, less cut shit, out during the first run, which is usually about 1-2 weeks. After the word gets out how good it is, they start getting greedy and adding more cut. That usually lasts a week to two weeks, then they put out the banging shit again. Its a stupid cycle, but hey, whatever lines their pockets.

If you want to avoid that, get in good with a dealer. Or, you could just get cool with some users and see what they have to say about the shit that's out at the moment.
 
I rarely ever get bags that have stamps on them, but whenever I do the stamp is no sign of how potent the product is. I'd get some bags with a certain stamp and they would be awsome, and then I'd get the same stamp but the product would be much less potent. The guy I usually got it from bought it in bulk, and bagged it himself. Whenever I would buy from him he would go weigh it out and throw it in some bags and usually didn't waste any time stamping it with any kind of logo or anything.

I thought they were called stamp bags because the bags were actually made for stamp collectors, not because they had an ink stamp on them, so I never thought anything of getting non stamped stamp bags.

I actually know what the OP is talking about. In NYC a lot of the dealers are getting lazy and just starting to put it in unmarked bags, which is understandable because i wouldnt sit there and stamp every single bag. A stamp is not an indication of the same dope. All of these people buy a big batch and fill the bags themselves, they dont get it like that in the first place so its impossible for it to be the same dope over and over. Its usually very similar but not the same.

Right, the point of the stamp is to build brand loyalty. "Rush" is good today, well I'm gonna look for "rush" tomorrow or the next day. But, there is no guarantee that it'll be the same. Where's all the common sense?
 
key would be getting personalized stamps made- meaning not real easy to copy, atleast not so quickly. you know not just a happy face or some bullshit

Forgive my ignorance. But what really is a stamp. Is it the same as powder baggies with different logos, or something totatally different?
 
I was going to someone for a while and one day he just got tired of stamping the bags AND didnt even bother to seal them. I got a bundle from him one day and they were unstamped, unseald bags just stacked on top of eachother and sort of rolled over and wrapped with a rubberband over the whole bundle to seal them. Normally I dont double check the shit he gives me because he has never fucked me in the four years I been doing bussiness with him. I called him up like what the fuck is this shit? A fucking joke? He assured me it was legit and it was. Very very very legit:) . Sometimes he stamps the shit but he gets lazy from time to time, I dont fucking blame him lol. I sure wouldnt trust a no stamp bag (not to mention unsealed but thats besides the point) from some dealer with a bad reputation or from some schmuck on the block. Stamps are necessary for those who cop on the street but really arent needed when you know and trust the higher ups that be baging the shit.
 
yeah I doubt stamps will be going away any time soon. I also don't think it could really be that easy to trace a stamp to it's origin, unless they were to make a raid and find the actual stamps.

I've always wondered how they make the actual stamps that they press onto the bag... I've also always wondered what kind of company manufactures the little vials with different colored lids that they serve dope in in the Baltimore area...

anyone care to shed some light on the subject?

Lyserg, don't know where in NYC you go, but I've found the lower east side to be a nightmare these days! Bags not only not stamped, sometimes not even sealed.
I'm in with some people I trust so I can get a heads up as to who's got decent gear that day, but no one sells direct and you gotta go through someone and kick them a bag to make the run for you and it's a big pain in the ass. If I hadn't given up my car I'd be over in newark so fast heads would spin....
p.s.- heard there's some bomb ass shit going around spanish harlem right now. Solid brown, reddish rock, looks almost like a chunk of opium. It's not sticky like tar, weird stuff but will literally knock you on your ass. The guy told me the spanish name for it but I forget

lately, i havent had any stamps either, and i think one of my guys gets it from ny. im in DE
a good stamp i got about a month ago was "Polo" and it was pretty white (not so tan or brown), real good shit too. but then that guy sold me a couple other bags which had no h in it at all, i was pissed. no more of that guy!
