Let me first explain what I mean. I am a regular heroin user, but am not and never have been physically dependent on opiates (except to a very mild degree). Not that this matters in regard to this question anyway though.

On Sunday, I took some heroin. I got a marvelous high from it. It was just wonderful, very euphoric. I mean I don't need to describe it, I am sure any opiate lover knows what I am talking about.

So then today I took heroin again. I am "high" right now but I am not experiencing any euphoria or much pleasant effects at all. It's not due to tolerance or anything like that because opiates have been like this since I first tried them 8 years ago. Sometimes I get fantastic, blissful highs and other times I just get itchy and sedated. I have not been able to figure out any determining that can predict what my experience will be like. It's just very variable. I wish there was a way to make the good highs more consistent.

So my question is to you opiate users out there, are you like me or do you get good (or at least decent) highs every time you take a good dose of your favorite opiates?

Ive never done heroin but have done various other opiates & can say yes, there are times when its not as euphoric as the other time/times. This could be because of what kind of mood you're in, it definitely could affect your high, etc.......

I find that when everything is going super in my life, the highs are awesome & I dont need as much of the opiate to achieve that special place mentally but if im having a bad day, I think I need more & the effects arent as good, so my conclusion would be it all starts with your mood, at least for me it does.

i take opioids for chronic pain, and switched from percs to the "equivalent" in hydrocodone because i thought the oxy stimulated me... it does, but nothing like this, i know they are both derived from the same thing, but the hydro has me spun, half-asleep at the same time, higth yes, but sick and green feeling, ++ it hasnt touched much of any pain.

i never thought id say this, but im not taking the Narco/vicodine/Hydrocodone again - and that puts me in a jam!
hehe damn...good night.

Yes, opiates are inconsistent. Unfortunately lately, I've been getting the more sedating, less euphoric effects. I think tolerance is a big factor, but there are others such as mood, diet, sleep. A lot of the times it does seem random though.

Is the heroin you took today from the same batch as sundays..?? I noticed the same thing as you when doing heroin. It depends on the poppy pods the heroin came from. Some pods are stronger than others containing a higher percentage of alkaloids. So this may be what you are experiencing..?
Poppy Pods "Opium" contains two main groups of alkaloids. Phenanthrenes such as morphine, codeine, and thebaine are the main narcotic constituents. The other group have no significant central nervous system effects, Morphine is the most prevalent and important alkaloid in opium, consisting of 10%-16% of the total.
Can also be from many of the things listed above from other replies. The main thing can be Diet, and if you are having regular bowel movements. But I am guessing it is the strength and percentage of alkaloids in the heroin you get.

I can relate to you man. Sometimes its amazing other times it just sucks. And i dont even think it has to do with my mood either because i'll be in the same mood and its just random.

i dont know

I have never taken heroin but have taken other opiates. I have had inconsistent highs as well. Some times i will be high as a kite, but other times I will be vomiting. But opiate tolerance builds up very quickly, that may be part of it. And the itching, what i have learned as the "ope itch" can be very normal. Try spreading your using days out a bit and see if that helps.

Yeah it was from the same batch and i took it in the same surroundings.

Sometimes dope is cut with things like diphenhydramine, which would explain the boring sedation you're talk about, but you say it's from the same batch, so it could just be tolerance. A few months ago there was some dope around the northeast that 5 of my friends overdosed on, it was really strong stuff. When you shot it you would get a crazy rush and become very lightheaded for a minute, followed by a very boring non-euphoric high that lasted forever. That stuff would keep w/ds away for 24 hours for me, so I suspect it had some kind of methadone like drug in it.

I already said it wasn't tolerance because first of all I don't think my tolerance raised much from sunday to yesterday and opiates have always been inconsistent like this for me, even with no tolerance. Some of my best highs (like sunday) happened with tolerance. I just can't ever predict what sort of high I am going to get when I take an opiate. Sometimes it's great, sometimes I don't get any euphoria at all it seems.

Indeed. Set and Setting is the rule for all drugs.
Not for high doses of DXM for me :) I've taken it in various moments of life, and the high had very little to do with my mood.

Back to opiates: My only expiriences with opiates are that of codeine and poppy seeds tea, but I know what you're talking about. Usually good sleep and feeling "healthy" makes my high a bit stimulating and euphoric.
But that still doesn't assure anything. Sometimes I can't connect it to anything, it seems just random.

Am I the only one here to disagree? For me, opiates are the most consistent substances I have ever taken, and it's for that reason opiates became my DOC. In my experience, cannabis is the most inconsistent substance I have ever taken. I'll be laughing, having a good time, eating all the food in the house and appreciating music on some deeper level, and then the next time I'll smoke a bowl, I'll be panicky, anxious, paranoid, almost in tears from the overwhelming fear and anxiety.

I think one might argue that an opiate high may not come on so strongly as it did another time, but that's really just tolerance more than anything else. The effects are, in my opinion, fairly consistent despite being more noticeable or coming on more strongly on certain occasions. I know what to expect each and every time I take a dose of opiates; I'm going to feel warm, a greater sense of well-being... I might nod a bit, maybe I'll get a little itchy. It's not like I'll ever take a dose and then feel something entirely unexpected like light-headedness, blurry vision, paranoia, etc.

For me, weed was always consistent as long as it was from the same strain. Mood was always a factor with weed but usually it was on the same level every time.

Mood is a big factor for me with opiates. When I am in a great mood, forget about it, im in another world, its awesome & im always smiling.
