Are needles really the cleanest way to use?

I've heard this from my sister who is a severe addict before, but then someone (I can't for the life of me remember who though) told me that it is a complete myth. Now my good friend who is in rehab just told me the same thing. I thought I would find the answer easily on google but no such luck. I also did a search on here and couldn't find anything either, so I'm sorry if this has been addressed already.

Are needles really the cleanest way to use drugs? He said its "cleaner than railing blow with shared rolled up dollar bills/straws." I think the cleanest method of using a substance would depend on the person really and what precautions they took, i.e not sharing, reusing, etc? I'm really curious about this, not that I ever plan to use needles but just for the sake of knowledge.

Well, that's a VERY hard question to answer.
In my OPINION, when you have people using drugs at home, like lets say heroin, I would say snorting or smoking would be cleaner.

But if you're using drugs exactly like they do in a hospital setting (complete sterilization, training, etc), then yes I guess you could say it's cleaner.

But, over, IMO, I think that needles are very gross and dirty.

Using drugs by injection is the most effecient way to use them,not neccasarily the cleanest way, unless you have clean high purity drugs,any way you use them will get contamintaes,other stuff in the drugs etc.. in your body,but when injecting you normally use a filter to draw the drugs up into the syringe in a solution,but this not not stop water soluble stuff in the drugs from passing through the filter also,so you when injecting are rapidly putting the drug directly into your bloodstream,and unlike swalloing,snorting or even smoking to a lesser extent you are bypassing the liver and can directly introduce unwated shit into your bloodstream via injection,where snorting and swallowing a drug is slower ,the substance enters your bloodstream through mucus membranes or the stomach in case of swallowing which gives you some protection by the body against dirty shit getting into your blood as easily,this is true but not as much with smoking , but injecting introduces everything put into the needle directly into the bloodstream,so it unless it is streile hospital,pharmacuetical injection scenarios,injecting is dirtier in all compared to other methods,but it is the most effecient way to take drugs...

I don't think so. When you IV a drug, you're injecting all of it straight into your bloodstream - contaminants and all. As the previous poster said, I think swallowing a drug is probably the "cleanest" way to use, as you allow the drug (and whatever it's cut with) to pass through your liver and stomach before entering the bloodstream.
