Are mushrooms the forbidden fruit??

You mean from the Bible? Yes. It is. However, I don't understand why God wouldn't want his people eating it. Maybe we weren't supposed to know what the fruit will reveal to us?

Mushrooms and Cannabis are the 2 plants that will save the world one day. Cannabis will save it first though. Mushrooms will just be apart of the global spiritual awakening.

Why then, did they evolve in such a way to contain a compound with such profound effetcs? 4-PO-DMT is the only naturally occurring tryptamine with the phosphorous group.

They are incredibly special.

What do you think? I believe they are.

Yeah but that's because you're thinking with a 21st century mindset. The bible was written by very strange religious nutcases who had an agenda and wanted people to believe their shit. So instead of saying "I made this bollocks up one day, they say "A bush appeared burning (has to be a sign from the Lord right? Right, so believe it you silly fuckers")

Never underestimate how much shit religous people will talk to try and convince followers to follow them.

It's like saying do you think mushrooms were what L Ron Hubbard took because he saw spaceships - no, he was just making shit up. You can easily make shit up without taking psychedelics if you've got no shame in lying.

Well why not? Why did the dinosaurs evolve? Why did the eye evolve? It evolved because that was the path evolution took it down.

If that's what you wanna believe then great, but for me mushrooms are fungi. Nothing else.

I think that if people truly believe that mushrooms are the forbidden fruit that featured in the bibles creation story, we are in a fair bit of trouble. Its an appealing idea but it can only be true if the rest of genesis and the creation is also true.

That said, it wouldn't surpise me ifsome ancient religious fables are based around humans discovering hallucinogenic plants, but there isn't really much physical evidence to support that.

Ah the sweet smell of idealism...;) I must admit that I giggled at your post; how many times will the world need saving? At least two, according to you...

I agree, but for different reasons. Mushrooms can induce a state so close to spiritual enlightenment (albeit of a short kind) that many people (myself included) have mistaken this enlightenment for true gnosis. If anything, thats what interests me; we can ingest mushrooms and experience a mystical state of such a dual intensity and glamour that we mistakenly praise the mushroom for this, overlooking the more vital role that the human mind plays in it.

There's a whole book written about this called the sacred mushroom and the cross but it's got nothing to do with psilocybin mushrooms, he thinks it's exclusively amantia.

To be honest I think the religious mindset around that area at the time was about as opposed to mushroom use as you can get. They were fundamentalist lunatics, if you went to them saying "I ate this mushroom and heard voices" they would immediately assume it was the devil and burn you. Just like the spanish did when they encountered in indians in south america.

Don't pollute mushrooms with man-made ideas about God - mushrooms are far superior.
:D:D%)

I don't think Mckenna linked them to the bible tho did he Bardo?
no. the bit about the phosphate group is supposed to be evidence that aliens made (are?) psychedelic mushrooms.
he also argues that the mechanical, "alien," visuals he experiences on mushrooms (vs the more natural visuals from ayahuasca) are evidence of this as well. he crazy.

nice one.

If you read Food of The Gods by McKenna he does suggest that the mushroom could have in fact been the forbidden fruit. I'm fairly sure it's in there, it's been a while since I have read it.

Our ancient ancestors used these mushrooms for spiritual purposes, and many still do today. We live in a world today riddled with notions that "religion is bullshit" and those sort of unhealthy ideas. Science has taken over our minds and many people find it impossible for there to be any sort of connection between each other, nature, and God.

Our mind and God are one.

Well, it is true that hemp is a WONDERPLANT and will eventually be utitilzed to its full potential. It is also true that mushrooms are used as spiritual tools in the past and today. Many communities use them as sacraments to keep their bonds to community, nature, and the spirit world together.

Well why not? Why did the dinosaurs evolve? Why did the eye evolve? It evolved because that was the path evolution took it down.

Evolution teaches us that if something mutates and it is inferior, it will not survive. What was the point of mushrooms evolving with a unique compound (especially one that has DMT in it, just like in human brains) if it served no purpose in nature?

It's hard to believe that mushrooms are a gift from God when the majority of the Earth can't believe in anything spiritual (in terms of extra dimensional beings/spirits n' whatnot).

That being said I haven't had a mushroom trip in ages.

ive always thought the forbidden fruit was DMT, and the most forbidden aspect of it is learning to physically control its release and power via one's own pineal gland. that being said, the forbidden fruit is the knowledge of one's own cosmic power, the spiritual transcendence which can result from having such disciplined control over the most primitive functions of the human brain.

psilocin is DMT's close cousin, of course.

Yeah I do not think it a mere coincidence that plants naturally contain DMT/4-PO-DMT and our brains do as well.
