Anyone's musical tastes change over the years?

Yeah it's true. Weird how that happens...can't see it happening to me.

From what I remember my dad introduced me to stuff like Led Zep and Pink Floyd when I was a kid. Which seemed to lead me into the metal scene with stuff like Metallica etc. I used to be obsessed with that stuff.

Over the years my music taste has evolved massively. There isn't much I don't like nowadays. Can't stand all the mainstream chart stuff though that shit is BORING.
 
Think I always have been fullfilled by various types of Music - didnt really care about Genres, except during the Teenage years.
Started off my life with Nursery Rhymes and Disney Soundtracks(Obviously) Then as a kid, loved Sgt Peppers,and earlier Beatles/Beach Boys too, as well as 80's pop and rock and Rap. After came huge love of 50's 60's and 70's rock, Classical(esp the Romantics). Then to Teens more Rock, Metal(Classic Heavy, Doom, New Rock)and Grunge. Started to like some classic Country acts Willie Nelson and kenny Rogers ATT. Then Jazz (ealier Swing and Miles Davis, Theolonious Monk et al). Hope I always find more and more types to listen to it's the one thing you can be greedy for and never get Fat, and the one thing you can expose yourself to more and more without being arrested!! ;)
 
When I was a teenager I only listened to metal. Once I started smoking weed my musical tastes changed and and I started getting into some hiphop and jazz. By the time I was 22 I started listening to pretty much every genre but then I started to get mainly into electronic music. I still have appreciation for all genres but for the most part I generally only like instrumental music now(electronic, dub, jazz, prog rock like LTE etc), quite bored of the human voice and don't see any appeal to it in music anymore except the odd reggae track here and there.

A few chart hits compliations and singles. Blue (Da Ba Dee) by Eiffel 65 was one of my favourite songs ever.

I would listen to whatever I liked the sound of.

During high school I developed a particular love of hip hop (I mostly listened to it). Just after high school I developed a particular love for dance music. A couple of years after that I developed a love for indie rock, and the greats (Bowie, Beatles, Joy Division, Pixies, etc).

I don't really go through phases anymore. I just listen to a lot of different music.

Not true. I used to listen to only R&B and Hip Hop. Once I got to college, my tastes changed(or shall I say expanded) dramatically. I feel like it's only gotten better.

I'm actually happy that my music tastes opened up. There is so much I would be missing out on. I can have fun at almost any club/house party/etc.

I love music. :)
 
More or less yeah. The only thing that sucks is that I can get sick of stuff very quickly. I get envious of my friends who can be equally as passionate about a band after 20 or so years, where I can barely listen to something more than 6 months before leaving it forever.

But going to styles, before I started playing an instrument, I generally liked mainstream pop as a kid. AC/DC inspired me to learn guitar at 8... then I'd listen to random styles from time to time while learning.

Around the age of 12 moved from 70's rock to bands like FNM, Primus, Tool... the usual stuff.

Later moved onto Industrial/EBM ... then Dream pop and Shoegaze... then 'World' music... mainly middle eastern styles with some Eastern European folk...
Getting more into various jazz styles as well as electronic again.

Speaking of which, after seeing Tron Legacy I downloaded the soundtrack. I never in my LIFE thought I'd EVER purchase anything from Daft Punk! They never did anything for me! But I like the T;L stuff.

Oh yeah, there are some awesome video game composers out there too. I'd love to write for games one day myself, but it's so much more involved than the old days of just doing a nice little electronic score. They use full blown symphonies these days, which is something I couldn't picture myself doing for another 10 years!
