I wonder if Lyrica works for a person then what exactly does it do?
Does it work like a benzo and make you less anxious?
If yes, what kind of benzos could it be compared to and what dose?
I have tried Lyrica only for a very short time maybe a week and I only took 100mg
and didnt notice anything. Then I stopped cause I was afraid of side effects like
bad memory.
But I just wonder what kind of dose would I need to be able to see what Lyrica does, if it does anything?
Could you just take 1 dose which is high enough and then you'd instantly get the effect
or would you still have to give it weeks before it starts to work?

Absolutely awful. Caused ataxia, amnesia, I actually looked and acted as if I were drunk, on therapeutic dosage 300mg bd.
Horrible drug which was MEANT to be a replacement for carisoprodol which they (erroneously, as it turns out) told me was not able to be prescribed any longer. it IS in cases of chronic lumbar pain, which is exactly what I was getting the Carisoma brand for. They still will not prescribe it; I have to buy Listaflex from Argentina at $150/100. Work out how much I have to pay from £220 month disability living allowance at three daily! Put simply I can not afford it, and with the exception of Wallace Carisoma and V-Carisoma, Indian brands, cheaper, are absolute garbage.
I can not recommend Lyrica in the least, but when they Rx you the stuff for a lumbar muscular problem and then you later read (after weeks of hell) that it is for NEUROPATHIC pain, then something is wrong with doctors' training these days. My own father was a doctor, which was a boon as he kept me pain fee and coped with my anxiety/panic related problems as well by prescribing the RIGHT drugs in the RIGHT dosages. Before 1 and 2mg Xanax was withdrawn in the Uk and it was an NHS drug I was on 2mg tds, ads if required. Now I must buy either Xabax in person in Belgium or France or wherever you can get the 2mg bars (the same Argie source that sends the Listaflex can supply the wonderful Gador ALPLAX bars) or it's 0.5mg tabs 12-16 daily at the highest Xanax price I have ever seen.
I can see where Lyrica could be useful but certainly NOt in my situation.
As for dosage the maximum recommended by the BNF and the most you will get on Rx is 300mg bd. but be prepared for some horrible feelings.
And the effect gets stronger with time so yes, you would, just as with some SSRIs, have to wait a bit for full effect to manifest.

Lyrica is prescribed off label for social anxiety & GAD. It does actually have a rather instant effect,-.1 1/2 hrs. For myself it's just a meh feeling, don't particularly give a s*** , can just chill. In higher doses, 450-600mg, a bit of a drunk wobbly feeling.

It is marketed at neuropathic pain, & at times does wonders for shooting pains in my legs.
