An open secret
Galangal is def worth trying. I find the effects to be extremely relaxing while simultaneously stimulating. I'm content lying around but also love taking a stroll down the beach after consuming it. There is also a vague psychedelic component to it, like the beginning of an acid trip. Colors are enhanced and I noticed a few shimmering visuals in the clouds above the beach. I used to work at a call center and really enjoyed eating galangal before going in for the day. I wasn't impaired in the least, in fact I felt like I was more pleasant to speak with. There was no pupil dilation or motor skill impairment whatsoever. The only way someone would know I was under the influence was if I told them or if they noticed me smiling and giggling a lot. It's very easy to concentrate on tasks when needed, so it's not really impairing in the least, at least for me. There are definite empathenogenic qualities I've experienced. Tactile and erotic sensations are enhanced. Orgasms are really powerful and can be of the cosmic order haha. All in all it's pretty interesting and enjoyable for me. I pay $1.99 for eight ounces of frozen root from an Asian grocery market. I split this into three piles, so two bucks for three doses ain't bad at all... The best way I've found so far to consume galangal is to chop a dose up as finely as possible, then mix it in with a heaping serving of spaghetti. Eating it raw has left me unable to taste anything for three days afterwards, but the spaghetti method seems to work great with no negative effects. A food processor would be ideal for this task but since I don't have one I use scissors which is a bit time consuming and tedious.
