I can honestly say that I am addicted to gabapentin. I've read pretty much every thread / post about the drug and there seems to be a strong consensus that you get very little to no effect from gabapentin after 2-3 days of consecutive use.

I on the other hand, have found that I get substantial mood / energy boosts every single day from gabapentin, even after say 10-15 days of use at around 3,600 mg / day although for some reason the strength of the effects do vary somewhat from day to day, but not necessarily depending on how many days I have been taking it. For example on day 10 I sometimes get much stronger effects then on day 4 or 6, and I always dose with food (plenty of carbs) and Aleve. The only reason I usually don't go beyond 10-15 days is because I either run out of pills or I find some other mood enhancing supplement / substance to break up my use of gab so I don't burn through my script quite as fast.

It's gotten to the point where I feel like I've become dependent because I always have super low energy, motivation, sociability, appetite and ability to sleep on days when I don't take it; and I'm a perfectly healthy and active 25 y/o except for a mild lingering anxiety / depression due to recently getting my second dui. I rarely drink or use other drugs, maybe twice a moth or so.

When I do take it it's just the opposite. I work out quite a bit and it's just amazing how much better music sounds and how much more intense I become while lifting and I feel like I can push myself a lot longer and harder. I always catch a pretty awesome buzz for around 4 hours and it keeps me happy all day, even after two weeks of daily use I would say it's about 50% of the high compared to taking your first dose after a week or so of abstinance.

The point of my post is first to ask if anyone else uses gabapentin like I do and has the same experience with it, because I'm yet to read any posts from people who claim to get any sort of high or even mood boosts after more than a couple days.

Second, does anyone have any input on the potential dangers or risks associated with a gabapentin addiction and what would your advice be? I'm currently prescribed 2,400 mg / day for anxiety. I'm actually pretty concerned that I've developed such an addiction and I'm not sure how hard it is to kick compared to other drugs; I've gotten some pretty bad w/d's for going without for like 5 or 6 days in between scripts (I've been through many benzo w/d's mild-severe, alcohol w/d's, and phenibut w/d's, and I would equate a gabapentin w/d to a mild-medium w/d from these substances- not horribly intense, but very unpleasant)

I'm about to try cycling my gab use with phenibut, pacimilon, and piracetam, but im not sure if this would be a good long-term solution.

Any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I took gabapentin for nerve pain + anxiety, it stopped working after a short period of time and I had to continually increase my dose..

When you become dependent the short half-life of Gabapentin makes interdose withdrawal very bad. I couldn't stand waking up every morning withdrawing... and I didn't like dosing every 6 hours.
The w/d from this stuff is real weird and horrible.

I love the stuff I have been using it for arthritis and it's awesome I dose about 900mg then 45 min later 900mg more i put the powder in some OJ. Bam I'm good really good all day til around 6pm then I eat and chill and go to bed. I have more energy yeah I get all kinds of stuff done. I'm liking this so far. I to have read all the threads and the info I have got from then is excellent. I really apperciate this site for the major amount of info. I can do what I need to do safely. Thanks to everyone for contributing.

I love gabapentin for moodstabilization. I can get over things easier that would normally leave me feeling emotional for the next few hours or the whole day. It isn't super strong of a moodstabilizer, but enough to help reduce the recovery time of my mood, as well as show me when I'm being silly, so I can work on controlling my mood.
