Anyone underestimate the power of LSD their first time?

Ive read a bunch of experience reports and frineds reports, and people say u get open eyed visualize ans a big body high. They never told me how strongly it affects your thought process and braind. And after reading that every type of halluigen is compared to LSD, i thought it wasn't such a strong tripping substance . Something that makes you see some shit and the high you get from it, none of the mental truanma you can go through when you take it.

I underestimated its power greatly, thinking it was not such a huge powerful drug, boy was i wrong. I dosed 3 more times after the first times within 2 hours and by hour 6-7 ot 8 i realised thats when the peak of them all are gonna mind fuck you and i had an amazing time for the first8 hours ... the next 8 hours after all the caif completely mind fucked up off the redosing, anyone ever make this mistake or underestimatr LSD's TRUE power?

Plenty of people have, yes. I have to say, though, if you thought LSD just produced a body high and visuals and that it wasn't a "strong tripping substance," you must have done something wrong with your research. I don't know where you found a "bunch" of experience reports that gave that idea. If you read the trip reports here or on Erowid you would quickly get a feel for how legendarily powerful an LSD trip is. "Every type of hallucinogen" is compared to it, as you say, because it's seen by many as one of the deepest and most powerful.

Any psychedelic can produce an intense, even overwhelming experience. A lot of people try them expecting, as you put it, a body high and cool visuals, but pretty much anything that produces those effects is going to produce some pretty profound mental effects as well. The visuals are just one symptom of your brain processing information radically differently.

The first time you try a psychedelic drug, it's almost a given that you'll underestimate it's effects. It's just really, really hard to get a concept of what's going to happen if you've never experienced anything like it, because there is nothing like it.

So usually the automatic reaction to this is focusing on the things you're familiar with when reading trip reports. Someone mentions breathing walls and you go "yeah I can picture that, sounds awesome". Someone talks about the dissolution of their identity/ego and you often times just pass that sentence over because it doesn't really match up with any information in your brain that could be used to get a concept of the sensation.

Yeap. Just my opinion/experience.

I didn't really underestimate it but there is no way to truly understand plus four LSD experiences without having experienced it your self. The first time I tried LSD I took one hit and two ours later I was disappointed in the effects so I took another one. I peaked on the second hit at 4:20 while we were smoking cannabis and a cop showed up so we ran. I had a plus four trip and my mind was completely blown. One can describe the effects of LSD but its not kind of thing words will do justice to.

I've partied, raved, clubbed, and just chilled out doing random stuff on LSD. Honestly, the only mental effects I've had from doing it are just that I appreciate many different types of music more and that I have less of a desire to do other drugs like MDMA or cocaine in the couple weeks following an LSD trip.

I've had 4-dose nights and 1-dose nights. I've re-dosed to prolong effects and honestly the only real underestimation I've ever had was my first two times doing LSD...I knew the duration was anywhere from 8-12 hours typically, but I was just mentally exhausted by the time 6 hours came by and I had to deal with another 4 hours, wondering "when is this going to be over?"

Now that I'm more experienced with it, I know my mental endurance has increased so I'm no longer at the 6 hour mark thinking "fuck I'm ready for this to be over," instead, I'm excited that I get another few hours on it.

I had a decent idea of what I was getting into my first time, obviously I didn't know its full potential, but I definitely didn't underestimate it. My first trip was amazing, and it really never went bad at any point.

Not to say I haven't had a "bad" trip, but I retrospectively see it as a wakeup call to address certain things I'd been ignoring. It was totally unexpected, basically the concerns in the back of my head that I ignore seem to come out after the peak of these, but I think overall it's hugely beneficial that they do happen.

Everyone underestimates the power of LSD their first time. Why? Because you can do all the reading you want and talk about it to a bunch of people but you really have NO CLUE what LSD is like until you're balls deep in your first trip.

To think that all that can come from just a small square of paper is mind-blowing to me.

I definitely underestimated it, and it ended up being all sorts of terrifying. And I had researched and read everything out there, and it still wasn't enough. I have a bad time with shrooms too so I'm thinking that psychedelics just aren't for me.

I was pleasantly surprised the first time I tripped. It agreed with the spiritual direction I wanted to be on. Nothing new to say. LSD is the KING of psychs imo until something better is discovered. And I never had any type of "bad trip". I have often wondered what that would be like

No.

Totally underestimated mushrooms my first time though! And that was my first trip overall.

Not my first time, but I sorely underestimated it my second time. I had a blast my first time--it was so much fun that my second time a couple weeks later I ended up taking twice as much, thinking it was no big deal. Fool that I was. =D

Yeah 15 years ago i underestimated that it would go away for awhile then comeback real slow and not available like it once was. When i do find it it is either taxed or low grade and not in quantity. I would have a egg nest of lsd had i known this 15 years ago. i do feel it in the air that we are about to start riding the high crest to reality once again

i had only 15 years old at my first lsd trip and i couldn't imagine that that tiny piece of paper could do such an incredible change in my way of understanding the world. My first and only ego-loss trip.17 years later and i still find it very pleasant.

Aye yeah^^^ dmt.

A new one on me that I must admit, but thanks to Google and other forums, I'm on it now!

But back on topic....I remember my second LSD trip followed quickly after a very weak first trip. So yeah, I was a little cocky about it all. The second trip was some white lightening back in early 80's. Popped 2 under my tongue and promptly jumped on some 750cc super-bike and test rode it round the town for 30 min. I had just jumped off it when my mind exploded. That was a close one. The rest of the night was a blur, but a proper introduction to psychedelics.

im not very experienced with psychedelics, ive smoked loads of weed and done magic mushrooms a few times, but thats it have you done acid?? Maybe ayahuasca is top of the heap..I haven't been able to try it yet...

Dimitri is the queen of all funkadelics. My first LSA trip whipped its ass with me, more than my first dealing with Lucy. Can't underestimate any substance you put in your body

Sort of but it was because like the one guy wrote I'd heard and read about LSD and how it makes you see visuals like walls breathing and it's spiritual but I hadn't experienced an LSD experience in person.

Yup, I did not feel anything my first time so I decided to drive to a friends house. A friend and I smoked pot in the car on the way there. I suddenly realized I could not drive and was tripping. I thought so thats why they call it trippin. I hade to turn around and go back home. I really enjoyed it.
