anyone tried Neurontin (gabapentin) before ?

my ex girlfriend took Neurontin for phantom limb syndrome. she said it made the "itch" that comes with amputation lessen somewhat. as such, i never tried neurontin b/c i (personally) couldn't even think i was depriving someone in need of such an incredible drug.

I first heard about Neurntin when someone was prescribed it for pain. Well, needless to say i took a large dose while drinking beer and did not feel anything. Does Neurotin only work for some people and why would they prescribe it for pain?

Yeah, I'm prescribed gabapentin, and if you're on the comedown, I'd eat all six of them. They'll help with anxiety. I'm prescribed 400mg 5x a day, so 600mg is a relatively low dose. Eat them all at once, and don't snort them.

Also - they're water soluable. Just thought you should know.... ;)

IMO 1000 milligrams of gabapentin = 3.5 milligrams of klonopin.
Many may disagree...

lol mmmmmmmkaaaaY1! where did you get info? Thats just funny)

For the OP tho, if you are coming down then yea go ahead and take them. They will help
the anxiety and high blood pressure. They will also make you kinda hungry which is good
when you are coming down.

I personally liked Gabapentin because it got rid of my social anxiety and stabilized my mood. 600 mg is a tiny dose tho. I did not know they even make 100 mg caps. I found a legit hook of 800 mg in one huge oval pill which was awesome. If you like benzo's you should def like these. However tolerance builds quick..after taking around 3600mg which is not that horrible for your health actually, the next day you might barely feel em.

I love Gaba...in fact I might have a couple right now since I just came back from a boating trip where I fell of a tube and thought I tore my Gluteus Maximus)

600 mgs of neurontin won't do anything, but the smallest I've seen were 300 so I'm guessing 1800 mgs. That might help a little with a meth comedown, but I only really get anything off them above 3 grams. High doses seem fairly save, my wife takes them by the handfull (literally) and even then the affects aren't overwhelming.

I have tried several times to get this so-called euphoric buzz off of Gaba.
Nada
Nada
Nada

A waste of time and a disappointing time, too!
Nope, I don't know how someone can get a buzz off these. And yet on one of the information websites it does state it can have a euphoric effect.
The most I did was 1600 mg. All I felt was dizzy nauseous and oh so toxic! Blech!

I was just prescribed this drug today. Says 800ml.twice per day.I have not filled the script yet. Told doc I have probs with anxiety. Mine never seems to go away. And actually makes me have a tight feeling in my chest and lots of random heart palitations.I have had tests done on my heart,,and it has been concluded from test results,(aside from blood pressure being a little high)that i have a normal functioning heart.Does 800 ml twice per day seem pretty high? I am just starting this med and would like to know what to expect from it. thanks in advance for any replys.Oh and he also put me on "ativan" 0.5ml. twice per day as well. And i also have not started those either as of yet. Will these meds help alot with this maddening anxiety? or will i walk around in a zombie-like state while on these meds?

Gabapentin isn't gonna get you high. I take 1800mg of it a day for nerve pain from my spinal cord injury. It does nothing for my anxiety but I suffer from severe PTSD and also being paralyzed from the waist down isn't an easy thing to get used to...It is a great medication though most definitely.

In my experience, and opinion, the combination of neurontin and a low dose benzo is a great help in dealing with chronic social anxiety and GAD. You should feel a decent relief of overall anxiety from the neurontin. The ativan is geared more towards acute panic attacks, and work great at making them go away. It is also very helpful for GAD and social anxiety throughout the day. Benzos aren't the best long term solution though, because of dependence and addiction issues. But if used properly they really can be a godsend.

Don't Work for shit! Please Do not waste your time!

In regards to getting fucked up, yes you are right. But believe it or not, sometimes medicine that doesn't get you 'fucked up'. actually works for the medical issues it is prescribed to treat! imagine that ! Go neuropathic pain, and minor general anxiety issues it works fantastically, in my experience. I also know a number of others who are prescribed it with favorable results.

If you are looking for legitimate relief then yes, it will help. But if you are some 13 year old dumbass, combing through mommy and daddy's medicine cabinet looking for anything you can shove down your scrawny neck, and hopefully get a shitty buzz, then yes you should avoid neurontin and leave it for the people who legitimately need it.

I take 300mg 4 times a day for pain from MS.

What I have found:

Opiates are virtualy worthless with it. You have to double the amount you take for any benifit. I used to take a couple vicodin every other day or so now I can go a week between vicodin's and double the dose to get what I used to get every other day.

that explains why my pain meds haven't been working for crap the past couple of months. My Dr. put me on Nurotin and didn't say one word about this. She kept my pain meds at the same levels, and when I see her on Wednesday, I am going to either ask her to up my dose (which she can't do because I'm already at my max dose for Norcos and taking 15mg MS Contin twice a day) or give me something stronger to work better. Or she can just take me off the Nerontin, which i don't think she will do, but you never know

I'm not sure if this particular thread is still active. Also, I apologize if the breadth of information following, make my own post a nightmare of categorization on the forum; much of it does, in fact, pertain to many statements that I have read here. The purpose of the vast rhetoric here is meant to be as transparent as possible for the furthered purpose of accurate feedback. Personally, my mind does not seem to have a inherent time stamp, so to speak. Hopefully people involved can recall the repertoire within the thread. Even so, I'm sure the vast knowledge of all you folks can handle it regardless. Indeed, I am impressed/intimidated by, well umm, previously stated knowledge. I'm not sure if my last sentence was simply a redundancy, or if it was completely irrelevant. Yeah, I think about stuff.
Anyways, enough rambling.
This may be a strange concept, as I see much confusion within this post in regards to the utility of virtually cancelling out one thing with another; which, just so happens to be, exactly what I am attempting to accomplish. If I've lost anyone simply by this opening statement, please do not whip yourself in shame; as apparently, my perspective is quite confusing for various medical practitioners as well. The thing is, my mental physiology undergoes intense highs and lows, with a almost random lack of pattern. Thus: my attempt to use self-made "ups" and "downs" as a sort of preemptive strike in order to stay more or less neutral, or evened out. (slight side path) I've just reminded myself that I had meant to compliment you all on your frank and straight forward information. I suppose that I'm a bit new to the wondrous world of forums, and once again, it just so happens, that I am like minded in this regard. So, without further adieu; I doctor myself. I smoke meth, I guess mostly to supplement a inherent and chronic fatigue, due to nearly overwhelming depression and also quite a poor diet. And yes, the anxiety... oooh my lol. A pin drops and I feel like I'm going to go all zombie roid rage and literally tear people limb from limb. Swell huh? Actually "the pin" in this case, is most often acorns falling on thin roof. Moving on, I've acquired some of this Gabapentin recently, kind of just a hand off from a friend, and only just looked up what it is recently, pretty cool actually. Too bad it's limited; I may try to get a script once depleted. Anyways, 600mg pills; I took 2 with some milk (whole milk is a given of course [I don't dabble in "excuses" for milk lol]) about halfway through reading the thread, whilst continuing to smoke on and off. Half management, half addiction I guess. Now, as I'm almost 30 minutes into my long winded excerpt here; well, feeling mighty nice, in fact. Which is exactly what I'm going for. My "high" is a state of "not high". I don't want to be manic/jittery. I don't want to be brain deadish either. My curse and also my forte is that I can't seem to do anything without thinking about it first (which still, in no way, necessarily means I'll end making a better decision); revolving redundancies mostly. The mission: I want to think clearly and in a specific direction. I also, do not want to drown in a endless sludge of thought. The questions (fact and feelings): Am I doing right by my "choice" of uppers (meth) and downers (right now Gabapentin)? Of these 600mg pills, how many and how often would anyone suggest taking them? (as stated, the 1200mg dose seems to have worked good till right now.[happening as I speak. Completely vanilla self-trial stages]). Keep in mind, I'm not trying to relax or go to sleep; I'm looking for a functional state. How will the Gabapentin theoretically affect my reaction time and motor skills and at what levels? Also related, I'm curious of the possibility and/or effects of mixing 10mg Cyclobenzaprine with the Gabapentin? Also, is Neurontin the same thing or interchangeable for Gabapentin? Guess I missed that somewhere, or just forgot by this point in my novel sized post lol, sorry! Lastly: My template of even steven being clear, are there any suggestions for replacements or substitutes of anything. I'll be honest, my quest for info, or the "right" thing is not always so grand. What I'm currently using is just how the cards played or what fell into my lap.
Closing statement: I swear I'm not a douche lol. I'm not a high minded elitist or anything like that; in case anyone got a vibe like that. I enjoy interactions with people, brainstorming, feedback and the like. I guess I just really like words and writing. Funny thing is, I talk with a completely different vocabulary and manner than I write with. Yep, there's a lot of folks vying for dominance up in my skull.
That's all then. Any feedback, or really, correspondence of any kind is both welcome and very appreciated. Thank you for your time ladies and gentlemen, and take heart in the fact that it took me much longer to write this, than it did for you to read it. Ciao!

Quick distinction. When I said "even", not thinking 50/50 levels. I do prefer to be more on the "up" side.

It won't do much to your reaction time IMO, and yes neurontin =gabapentin. Idk what cyclobenzaprine is so I can't help much with that, sry...
