Anyone know of this kind of story/novel?

I was wondering if there are any stories about people using psychedelics to enter a sort of reality interface. I got the idea from a lot of cyberpunk stories. In many of them, a character enters a virtual reality through different means, and they form a big part of the story. So, is there any story in which characters use psychedelic substances to enter another layer of reality or something like that, instead of technological virtual reality? And I don't just mean a passing reference to psychedelics.

Sort of like virtual reality in cyberpunk, but with psychedelics instead of a wire in your head.
