Anyone know anything about Cymbalta?

I saw my doctor yesterday (the same one who got me started on hydrocodone) and he wants me to start taking Cymbalta. After my horrible experience with withdrawals, I'm kinda scared about starting anything else. Does anyone have any experience or thoughts about this drug, positive or negative?

Do you have pain, or depression? Cymbalta can be used to treat those.

I know someone who had tried therapy, eating right, illegal drugs/alcohol, and exercise for major depression; but none of it worked.

They were suicidal and reached out for help, and were given Cymbalta and this helped them with their depression.

I can help. I have been on Cymbalta for the last year or maybe a little bit over as I was on Lexapro before this. What I found with the Lexapro was that it made me put on weight and was near impossible to lose even after training. As a result I switched to Cymbalta and have found it to be quite good, I still get anxiety problems but this is more to do with my drinking. It is ok as an anti depressant, you won't even know you're depressed when you are.

Overall if you need to take medication do it but if it can be avoided then take that approach. Usually the latter applies when your depression is situational and not something you have lived with your whole life. For me I would love to stop taking meds but until I stop drinking this isn't going to happen
