Anyone here with daytime drowsiness tried modafinil?

I've had daytime drowsiness pretty bad for years now and a couple of years ago I got a dexedrine prescription (I made it out like I had ADHD to the psychiatrist) but when I started taking the dexedrine I realised I actually did have ADHD cuz the stuff tranquilised me pretty severely. It was a more productive kind of drowsiness induced by the amphetamines but it was still pretty counterproductive. I just got some modafinil in the post and popped 200mg. I'm optimistic about replacing the dexedrine with this drug but I'm wondering if any of you have experience with using modafinil to alleviate drowsiness and ADHD.

I've used it in place of amphetamines (both Dexedrine and Adderall) and found it to be effective. I don't have daytime drowsiness, however, a friend of mine has thyroid issues and takes modafinil and Adderall for general tiredness and ADHD, and they work very well for him.

My experience with modafinil is that it is almost as productivity-inducing as the amphetamines but with noticeably fewer side effects, your mileage my vary, but it did work for me.

Hope this helps!

Does anyone not get the tranquil-yet-alert feeling from low - moderate dose amphetamine (or methylphenidate)? They say it works differently on people who are hyper, but I've not met anyone that didn't get super focused while on amphetamines...

I don't know, lots of people say it puts them on edge and makes it impossible for them to relax. The polar opposite of what it does to me. Makes me so relaxed I happily sit in one spot for hours barely moving a muscle.

As for modafinil I think I took too much. I have never taken it before but since I probably still have a tolerance to amphetamines I assumed 400mg would be a reasonable starting dosage. Right now I have an exceptional ability to focus and learn but I'm feeling real nauseous and have a bit of a headache. I should mention though that I'm tapering myself off opioids at the moment (I've been using opioids as an ADHD remedy since they don't have the side effects that amphetamines do). I'll have to wait until I'm off opioids completely to be able to identify the effects of modafinil.
