Anyone here used Didrex?

Just wondering if any Bluelighters have experience with Didrex, a weight loss drug? I mean, either as prescribed by a doctor or recreationally? I'm more interested in the latter. If I understand correctly, it metabolizes into amphetamine and methamphetamine once it enters your system. You see, in my home area, there's very limited access to "real" speed. My medical plan doesn't have coverage for any medical services or prescriptions for ADD/ADHD for some crazy reason, so scamming some Adderall is out. Anyway, I'm not obese and I don't think I have ADD/ADHD but I'd like something to keep me going during the day, mostly while at work. Ephedra and related compounds are out; they do nothing for me except make me anxious and nauseous. I'm posting this in Other Drugs instead of Health Q&A because I'm more interested in hearing whether anyone finds this drug worthwhile or even fun. The only other post I could find here was regarding injecting Didrex, which I don't anticipate doing. Also, can the time release really be broken in this drug by crushing or chewing them? I've read that on other sites, so I just wanted to confirm. Thanks for any input you might offer. The little suckers are expensive and I want to know what I'm getting into before making an investment. I won't be able to file with my insurance this time (if I go the online route), so I thought I'd investigate here.

omg...its so funny that you should bring this up because they're having a didrex epidemic where i'm from. doctors are writing them out like bubble gum medicine to anybody and everybody...all you have to do is pay $120 for your visit and you get a script of 60...please don't do this. i have never told anyone that something wasn't smart on here but didrex is not good. Its very addictive and causes heart attacks. I know this because I have people in my own family who are bad off on the shit..one who is even pregnant and the doc is still writing her scripts which makes me furious. my uncle had a heart attack at 22 from this and so did another family member at 19. I do not recommend didrex..if you're looking for speed..do speed..not some substitute..you'd be better off eating a whole bunch of yellow jackets..peace

I don't have any personal experience with didrex, but they should be a little better than ephedrine if you are just looking for a little energy during the day. I wouldn't spend too much money on them though, you will probably be disappointed (CIII stimulant, similar in effect to some of the CIV diet drugs like phentermine). Sorry I can't give more useful info., but I will say that you should disregard the comments of the above post.
 
high_n_br: Are the people you know who are taking Didrex taking it recreationally or as a diet aid? In what kind of doses? You mentioned that a couple of your relatives who took Didrex and experienced negative side effects has pre-existing heart problems... Isn't Didrex contraindicated for people with heart disease and/ or high blood pressure? I know there are some negligent doctors out there who are mostly to blame for unfortunate "accidents" such as the ones you mentioned. Unfortunately, people who are overweight and seek medication for help in weight-loss are also prime candidates for heart conditions and high blood pressure.
Really, I'm just looking for something to make my workday more managable. By the end of the week, I'm absolutely worn out and hate to even be there. I like to take adderall when it's available but, like I said, my insurance plan doesn't cover ADD/ADHD treatment or medication. I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, a condition that (among other things) is often accompanied by chronic fatigue. My best shot at getting amphetamines prescribed and covered by my health plan would be to go the chronic fatigue route which will take a while since I've just recently started seeing my Rheumatologist. Amphetamines are usually one of the last resorts for treating CFS that comes with Fibromyalgia (following exercise, diet changes, relaxation and biofeedback and other medications such as SSRIs and other antidepressants.) Some lucky, long-standing patients might get adderall, etc. but not right from the beginning.
Thanks for your comments (both of you). I'm still contemplating. Methamphetamine isn't readily available in my area or I would have given that a try long ago. I've used coke (in small doses) at work before to keep myself awake and in a good mood. It's not really my first choice, though, because of cost and comedown factors. We'll see...
Anyone else with any personal experience and/ or comments?
 
Well, you keep saying that you won't do Adderall because it is expensive, and your insurance won't cover it. But you also say that Didrex is expensive, and your insurance won't cover it. I don't get it. Why not just get diagnosed with ADD and get the better stuff from a more reliable and legal connection, if you're paying big money out of your pocket, either way? And are you sure your insurance won't cover the actually filling of a script?? Or is it just visiting a specialist it won't cover?
 
Have you ever heard of Stackers? It's an over the counter weight loss pill, but from my exoeriences all it really does is give you an energy boost.
 
The people in my family were using it recreationally on the weekends...neither one of them had heart problems...for goodness sake they were 22 and 19. everyone else supposedly gets it for weight loss but starts using it for something else..like energy. i just don't recommend this...try stacker 2 or yellow jackets..you'd have better luck and less chance of becoming dependent on them..peace
 
Actually, I think stackers are MORE dangerous. Haven't you heard about all the health problems caused by epheda products? And the caffiene added to stackers just makes it more dangerous.
 
travis2600- My health insurance doesn't cover any office visits or medication for ADD/ADHD. Why? Who knows? Anyway, I've tried every route around it to score Adderall compliments of my group health insurance but it's not gonna happen (unless, like I said, I find some MD who will prescribe it for chronic fatigue related to my fibromylgia.) If I could get Adderall prescribed by a doc and covered by my Rx plan, too, I wouldn't even consider spending the bucks for Didrex. Ephedrine and caffeine based products don't do anything for me.
Didrex is only expensive because I would have to buy it online without insurance. I'm pretty sure I'm out of other good ideas for getting a doctor to prescribe stimulants that would be covered by my plan.
