anyone here stopped drinking?

I did it for just under a year many moons ago and did feel a lot better, skin cleared up, lost weight etc. Was just a fucker dealing with certain people who would take the piss because they knew I was a heavy drinker or who would hassle me if I said I wasn't drinking. Majority of people were cool though and after the first month it was fairly easy.

Went back on it hardcore when I moved away, but have cut down again now to once or twice a week and often can't summon the effort to get arseholed anyway. Lost close to four stone now and I dare say am actually looking healthy for the first time ever. So yeah, worth it!

hi evey. i gave up alcohol nearly 3 years ago now, when i had to take tramadol for putting my backout, but have now become heavily reliant on trams, not for the pain now but just to stop the withdrawals, which have become increasingly more intolerable!!! ugh... sometimes even taking 20 ata time which i know is silly but i think sometimes i am paying through the nose for something i don't even get much of a buzz out of anymore i may as well try to get a bit of a buzz now and again.i heard you mentioned citalopram..? can you please tell me if that is something that would give you an instant upper,or downer,as i have literally just ben offered 2 for £5 each and i turned them down. i thought they were an anti.depressant.thanks for any info on them.also same person was supposed to be giving me my first "oxycontin" but he turned up with "citraloprm" in stead. shame.again thanks for any info regarding citalopram.

One thing I do love combining is speed and alcohol

Such a nice combo

As for booze, i need to cut down a bit tbh. if i didnt do stims i'd probably stop completly as i find it fairly dull and messy on its own. stopped drinking spirits a long time ago & feel so much better for it

Nice one about the weight.

I realised this past weekend that it'll kill me. No question. My dad used to tell me so, too, and he was an alcoholic.

Anybody who wishes to hasten this event by sending me a free bottle, drop a PM.

I've virtually stopped drinking at the moment. Only had a bottle of prosecco over the last few weeks and haven't been drinking at all on my own. That's down from at least half a bottle of wine every day and much more in company for the last year and a half. Apart from other reasons, I've kind of lost the taste for it recently - and since I only really drink for the taste, it's made drinking at all a bit pointless. Haven't found it hard to stop tbh, just kind of... did it. Don't think I've lost weight from it as I'm a skinny fuck already and I don't feel noticeably different. Big plus is the money I've saved though, saving at least £20 a week is pretty nice, especially considering I've got stuff to save for atm.

Well my last drink was Friday so I guess this is day 4... The weekends are going to be hard craving wise n to be honest I'm craving it now with thoughts like "go on get some." As my next Infraction would be a month, which would an ENTERNITY, I've decided that I'm giving up alcohol until 23 April. So any support, advice of how others have done with would be most grateful.

Fuck... I wish I could say I only drank half a bottle of wine a day. My equivalent is more like a bottle of vodka per day :( if I stopped drinking I could save £50 - £100 a week. Tbh, for that money I'd rather be back on the smack; but its more acceptable to slowly kill yerself on booze than to enjoy taking drugs. FML :(

^^^^yea I never understand that social mentality - that drink n fags are fine but ither drugs aint. It's like someone forgot to let on that tobacco n alcohol are drugs.
Mind you, I've never smoked in my life so wouldn't have a clue or want to start.

Theres a lil something in society called anti drug propaganda. The goverment wanna keep people on the legal taxed drugs and slander the rest. it aint hard to understand

nope never i was close to 100 units last week, + working full time just do kcider/tennents when home, as for tax i would probably be dead if we had the same tax on them as say Holland, i visit a few times a year and u pay 9.60~ euros for a pack of 38 fags and crates (16) off 5.2% jupiler for like 14 euros and 4 euros for the crate back, so really 10 euros, i was doing 6L frosty jacks at worse 45 units, if the price of tennents and frosty jacks etc was raised i would prob just drink a beer a like instead of just shopping for most punch for the pound ;)

Nah, not for me, I'm done with booze.

Got into a bit of an habitual thing with it. It kinda took over. There wasn't a serious problem, but it was a problem.

Rarely drink now, I gave up for 6 months, fell off a little, 6 months off again. Now I can have a beer with dinner or a glass of champs at a wedding without getting blasted.

1 month no booze! now i'm restricting it to purely social occasions, and not drinking myself to sleep anymore

NO way this is an good idea. If you drink rarely ( 1 time a month ) , its almost zero damage to your body. Messing up with your serotinin system, suppresing your body immune system - no way its better.\

Best thing, if you take drugs...if you know the consequence, are opiates.

MDMA 1-2 times a year, and the less you take it, its better for the body. MDMA is like a tornado imo, people love it.

Thing is - all people i know who took MDMA, think about it every fucking single day in someway...i might be wrong?

Eh??

I stopped drinking heavily after I left Univeristy & now I am basically abstinent altogether but more out of necessity than choice. My Citalopram makes me more prone to the effects of alcohol, so I've just stayed clear. I know some people drink on it but I feel it's just a road I shouldn't go down apart from the occasional one off like at Christmas or New Year.

I've just recently got into drinking Bavaria non-alcoholic beer & it's a great alternative. I still feel like I am able to enjoy a drink yet at the same time there is next to no alcohol in them. If anyone is considering going abstinent, I'd highly recommend finding a non-alcoholic beer or similar that you like to help tide you over. God knows I wouldn't be managing so easily without them.
