There isn't much info about it on the internet, but what I can gather, it's a minor MAOI and works similar to a regular MAOI with anti-depressant/anti-anxiety effects. But what I'm wondering is whether or not the mood lift/anxiety reduction is placebo or real.

Hypercium does indeed seem to have anti-depressant/anti-anxiety effects, mild as they may be. I never got much out of it personally. It's not going to be a cure-all, that's something I can say without a doubt.

I found this digging through google. It's worth a read if you haven't found it yourself already. http://www.vanderbilt.edu/ans/psychology/health_psychology/stjohnswort.htm

I really don't think DXM is a practical choice for an anti-depressant. In fact, I think that would hurt more than help.

It's effects are felt over time. It's not as immediate as lets say 5-htp...

Also it has interactions with a really wide range of drugs in metabolism.
