Anyone have experience detoxing from ambien/zolpidem while using valium?

ive been on ambien on very high doses for years and i am wanting to detox from it and stop taking it altogether. i have tried before and had awful withdrawal symptoms so i was hoping maybe taking some valium would help with that. does anyone have experience with this?? im really clueless on this and i really need to quit the ambien. thanks for any advice!

If you dont mind me asking how much do you take? And do you just take it at night or through the day? Also, do you take any other meds?
Im recovering from a zopiclone addition that last 2 years. At the worst times I was taking 30mg at once, every night and I used pregabalin to come off it. If you let me know the doses then I can work out the conversion if you'd like?:-) and yes diazepam will work for this.

If you're crossing over to valium, then using valium to taper (reductions of 10% per week is a decent tapering schedule to minimize w/d symptoms without dragging it on forever), then you will be fine. However, if you're going to simply take valium for a couple weeks and quit outright, then you will find yourself back in the same place when you withdrew the first time. I am not sure of the nominal equivalency between diazepam and zolpidem off the top of my head, but I'd imagine you could find such information online, if you haven't already. Also, is this a doctor supervised taper?

im planning on tapering with the valium i definitely do not want to have to have w/d from that too! this is not a doctor supervised taper, i am not able to go to a doctor so im on my own. thanks for the info!

You're probably better off tapering on your own, as doctors tend to want control over tapering regimens, and usually insist on tapering faster than you may be able to (at least U.S. docs). I take it you've got a decent supply. If so, you have absolutely nothing to worry about.

i actually dont have too much of a supply. i can get more if i have to but i really dont want to have to buy again. its an extremely expensive habit to have which is obviously one of my big reasons to quit.

Not really. If you were withdrawing from an opiate, then kratom would be helpful. Just stick with the valium.

thanks for the advice! i havent gotten my valium yet but im going to try tapering a little of the ambien tomorrow night. gonna start by taking 2 less than usual and probably go right to bed after instead of staying up to "enjoy the high" which is what i normally do. im thinking i might notice the decrease less if i do it that way. here's hoping!

Crimsonnclovers7, you have posted the same thread three times across two forums. This violates the rules of your membership. I will leave this one open, as it has landed you the most responses. However, I am going to close the other two redundancies. Please refrain from this behavior in the future. Thank you kindly!

Ambien withdrawal. I can't taper directly from Ambien because of short half-life and strong interdose withdrawal. I have done water titration off of Klonopin and have plenty of it. Is there any reason I can't crossover immediately to Klonopin and taper with it? Advise would be most appreciated.
