Just like how I could always sleep after drinking some coffee in the morning, so far I can sleep on ritalin and adderall. In fact, initially right after I take them in the morning, I kinda get slightly sleepy.

Does anyone experience this? What does this mean?

So far I've been taking 20-30mg/day.

Btw, if I insufflate ritalin I don't get sleepy at all.

I can't recall which one, but I know some people with either ADD or ADHD (or potentially even both allow for this) tend to calm down on stimulants. My best friend growing up, caffeine would make him drowsy, so his mom would give him soda to make him go to bed. He was one of those, just can't recall which.

This is why people with those conditions tend to be prescribed stimulants.

Caffeine has little effect on me I drink my coffee black with 3 tespoons of nstant nd only fill the cup half way up, a poss mans espreso.

I used to tan allot comming up on phet but I can't sleep for shit afrer any stim without benzos, even after coke it good 6 hours befor I csn sleep never tried eiher of the substancs you mention but I'd bet the same result YMMV !

No I can't sleep on coke unless I smoke decent amount of good pot and even then coke stays in my system and I won't sleep for long... until I'm all out of coke.

It's just that, so far, my normal dose for my ADD puts me to sleep. But once I take all the days doses then I'm up for good and won't sleep even when it's time to go to bed. I'm thinking I should try higher dose initially in the morning.

When I was taking ritalin I would do lines of it to get some boost and it did not put me to sleep. I've also been doing ritalin to overcome my cravings for coke. At first it tasted like crap but once I got used to it and not completely powder-ize it, it got to be somewhat mimicking coke, ie, as far as keeping me up and not so much the euphoria. It's been working as I can't say I've been craving coke so much now except I can't do it during the day when I'm on Adderall.

Yeh, it's an ADHD thing. I can take a couple point of base and jump into bed, read a while and crash out. Stimulants make me drowsy, thats why i personally prefer downers. But again, I have had really good base speed b4, pink champagne i was told or even oxblood nasty crystals and i got a rush (smoking them or IV) but then id get sleepy or at least normal.

Ask a Doc about it..

Maybe adult onset ADHD

Exactly my brother is adhd and can be literally bouncin off the walls, take his dose by mouth and then go do homework or play CoD mw3. I don't think your doctor wants you to be sleepy so a med change or dosage adjustment by your doctor may fix this OP.

A young chap I knew, who passed on years ago. he was a speed freak and he couldn't sleep at night unless he banged up a gram of sulphate. He was well hooked on it and he couldn't function without it. Strangely enough it knocks me out, it wears me down till I just want to lay on the bed and fall asleep.I think things affect people in different ways.

Yes. I find it easy to sleep after or whilst on cocaine, mdma or mephedrone, but its a complete task to sleep after a night on ketamine.

But I have ADD though. I'm totally opposite of bouncing off the wall (though my mind, I found out, goes in light speed in space traveling kinda way). I'm normally like a lump of blob and don't move much (no, I don't actually look like a lump of blob). The stimulants gets something ticking inside but so far not enough for me to able to accomplish anything yet. They get me somewhat moving in the direction of preparing to get something done but not quite.

Often I won't even flip my laptop open to check my emails or get online when I'm really bad. When I'm scanning to see what's online, it's a positive sign. When I'm posting that's even better. When I start a thread that's unusual and that's definitely sign of meds helping. But so far that's about it.

I'll definitely ask my doc about this. I was afraid she'll take stimulants away from me if I say I have any adverse or unusual effect from them.

Oh, btw, she increased my Citalopram dose to 80mg and that definitely helped my mood. I feel like I can sometimes stick my nose above the water to smell something hopeful like soft Spring breeze or something so I came a long way. But that's max dose for Citalopram, period as MFG only recommends 40mg max.

A paradoxical reaction to amphetamines is very common. Amphetamines increase when the initial arousal level is low but decrease arousal when the initial level is high.

That's super weird because I can't sleep on any add-prescribed stimulant (methylphenidate, dextro-amphetamine), but coke is quite easy.

It would be alarming to me, if I even get a slightest passing thought of drowsiness after doing any coke, about the quality. That would be not good as what's the point?

Adderall made me tired every time ive taken it........only did it a handful of times & didnt like it at all...............

Could you explain this statement? I'm not quite getting it.

I guess I should have placed a verb after "increase."

Basically, if you're hyper, "high arousal level" --> they will slow you down.
If you're inattentive --> they will speed you up.

I never really get sleepy from Adderall, but I had a trial of vyvanase and it made me so tired.

I got tired once, I just kept waiting for it to kick in and it never really happened. Since then a few friends have mentioned having the same experience.
