A little cutty cove in the Northern Pacific.
So recently I've been in dire need of a focusing and productive medication. I'm currently taking a medicine that causes extreme lethargy. It makes it very hard to do anything, even video games and TV get boring quickly. I sometimes spend significantly large portions of my day sitting and staring off blankly. I asked my neurologist if he could prescribe modafinil and he said no because he doesn't want to treat a symptom of one med with another. Which makes sense from his perspective, but I don't think he understands the debilitating effects of the lethargy from my perspective. Thing is, I'm a writer and lately I've been really pushing it, and finishing things at the last possible minute, which I can't do anymore.

I'm not trying to buy adderal on the black market cause I would run up a huge tab and I need something I can use on a relatively frequent basis. I got a bag of coca tea once, but I got it so I could rip the bags open and chew the leaf (which is a disgusting, btw). Does anyone have an experience using coca tea for focusing? Some people say it is a great stimulant, many orders of magnitude better than caffeine for focus and productivity (which makes me super hyper, but with no focusing).

Some questions:
What's the tolerance build up like with coca tea, assuming I would drink it like I would drink coffee (daily)?
Is addiction a real issue? I had an intense coke phase in my life, but I quit very easily and have no desire to start again. When I chewed the leaf, it didn't make me want to snort, btw.
What are the pros and cons?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What's the other medication that's causing the lethargy, if you don't mind us asking?

Without being intrusive, it might be good to know why you are taking the above as it might help to understand the overall situation and possible solutions.

I'm taking the medicine for a neurological disorder. I need the meds and I need it at this dose. Can't change either. Tried everything else. This is a very common side effect. I've done a lot of study and others also talk about the inability to get things started or follow through with anything. It sucks. The only thing people seem to suggest is modafinil. Most docs prescribe it, but mine doesn't want to cause I have insomnia sometimes. Everything I've read at this point is about how coca tea is very safe and not addictive because it doesn't really build up a significant tolerance.

Anyone actually have experience with coca tea on regular basis?

You do build tolerance to it.
