Anyone ever come across Mandrax. (Methaqualone) or Quaaludes anytime recently?

Or even know if there are still underground chemists producing the Quaaludes?

I am curious to know if any of you have come across any? Awhile back, maybe 6 years or so ago, my brother and I had come across some of these "Lemon 714" I believe was the marking, and it was a big thick pill. I remember him taking just 1 and being completely out of it (he never had a benzo tolerance like me) but I took about 3 or 4 of the things and this is back about 6 years now and I still had a fairly significant benzo tolerance and I couldn't feel anything. I suspected they were just fake Quaaludes filled with Diazepam or some benzo. But I am curious to know if anyone has ever come across any REAL Quaaludes, or knows of people still producing them somewhere.

Thanks to all BLers!

I thought they didn't exist as in extinct, couldn't get them.
The only time I even heard the name in the context of "do you want some" was when a buddy of mine came screaming out of his bedroom, coked to the gills, screaming "We got some 'Ludes!"
I was 18, had no idea what the fuck he was talking about and just wanted some of that coke. Oh well.

Quaaludes are nothing special, really. I came across them a few years ago because my friend's grandfather had passed away and he ended up having a bottle in his medicine cabinet. They pretty much feel the same as benzos, maybe a bit more sedating.
They've acquired some sort of mythical status that they don't deserve. If you had a high benzo tolerance then they wouldn't impress you at all.
We should stop having quaalude threads on bluelight- they really don't seem to deserve all the nostalgic praise they get.

not since the 1980's.
Rohr and Lemmon 714's were the best.
Mandax came in foil packet strips from Mexico.
You could get Sopors sent as free samples from the manufacturer b4 they were scheduled.
They all vanished in mid 80's except for the fakes from Columbia which the sent in with the coke.

yeah i was going to say its still an on-going issue in south africa, they call them buttons or something. some vendor claimed to have lemons, but reviews lead me to bleieve he pressed a bunch of diaz powder with some color. but whos goingto fall for that? theyve been gone so long why would they suddenly come back. unless you find that golden bottle from the 80's/early 90's.
etaqualone (sp) is NOT worth the time or money even though it sounds like it would be appealing, its very inactive compared to its big brother.

They were barbiturate-like, apparently. Actually a anxiolytic/sedative with some hypnotic properties. Right? Someone?
A appropriate comparison to today's available substances would be benzodiazepines.
Sounds like they relaxed, were sedating and people liked to mix them with alcohol, other drugs.

It does seem much ado about not a whole lot. But that's the way things go when a generation has had access to a drug and then it disappears.
People get all nostalgic for them. Older heads. Kind of like if you've ever heard someone go on about black beauties.

SA or illicitly synthesised methaqualone powder will be your only chances now. Apart from stumbling on decades old RX bottles.

I thought I remember reading they still prescribe Mandrax/Quaaludes in Canada, and that in South Africa they soak their marijuana in it. Methaqualone is most definitely not a benzo or a barb, it is entirely it's own thing. They used to use it to wean people off Morphine/Heroin back in the day (read Diary of a Drug Fiend by A. Crowley).

Anyways, I can't give you a source, but yes it is still around. It can be found. Happy hunting.

From time to time quaaludes get synthed. They usually don't leave a small circle, at least IME.

I wish they appeared more often. I've never got to try them but every once in a while someone somewhere will do a synth.

I disagree, I grew up in late 70's early 80's and Quaaludes were special. They weren't a barbiturate or a benzo they created a very special buzz. I would love to feel that special feeling one more time. Ludes' were great!!!

You can't synthesize a pill... well, maybe technically lol but not in the context you're using. You synthesize a drug (methaqualone) and put it in a pill (quaaludes). Quaaludes and other brand names have been extinct for decades now. Any pills not stashed away for 30 years are going to be "fake" and shouldn't be referred to by brand name because they won't have the same guarantee of purity and consistency that comes with pharmaceutical drugs

I mean, every drug's effects are entirely subjective. That said, I can't help but feel that if they really are that special, then they wouldn't be so rare to find. Someone, somewhere would be trying to cash in if there were that large of a demand..

Yes. Methaqualone is still produced. Canada prescribes them very rarely. But it is the number 1 abused drug in South Africa. Just because they were banned in the US doesn't mean the chemical formula isn't still produced. Mandrax(produced mandrakes) is still sold on the black market. Ive recently seen some that are fat tablets with a roman W stamped in them. They cost $15 each.

At this very moment, I would definitely choose Secobarbital over a 714.. (Note:I've done luudes, and plenty barbs). Anyone else?
NOTE: My very good friends step-father used to smoke mandies back in the day.. He said it tasted like smoking a burning tire.. Yet the high was incredible.
