Anyone else tried and hate Apotex brand of Fentanyl?

My pharmacy only had Apotex fentanyl patches this month so that is what I was given. I hate the damned things. I always have issues with the patches sticking, and the other manufacturers send me the covers, free of charge. This company does not.

Even after getting them to half assed adhere themselves to my body, I am getting very little pain relief. This was after patiently waiting much longer than it takes with other brands. Ever wake up and wonder why you feel like you spent the night in a meat grinder, only to find you patch came off? Well, imagine having that feeling and discovering the total waste of a transdermal patch is actually still attached to you.

I am assuming I am not going to be able to call my doctor and have him rewrite the script so I can return the duds and get my dudes? I know I will cross these off of my list of acceptable patches, I was just wondering if there is anything that can be done when this happens?

Do some patches work for some people but not others? If they all have the same active ingredients, is it just my imagination that they are not as effective? With most others, I do get some adhesion, this brand is all crinkly and wrinkles itself up on my body. The 100 is also so frigging big I could use it to wrap Christmas gifts with.

Sorry, just frustrated.

Hi happyginny. I'm sorry but I don't think your thread fits within our guidelines. From the BDD Guidelines:

- No brand discussion. The only significant differences are few and far between and speculating about subjective difference between generic and brand drugs or between different brands is not productive.
- No questions about filling scripts or what to say to doctors.
- No legal questions.

All you can really do is tell your doctor they don't work for you and hope for the best. It depends on whether or not they believes that it's possible for one type to not work as well and if they are willing/able to have you return the current ones. You would likely have to prove that you aren't going to keep the current ones, and it might be complicated by the fact that your current pharmacy doesn't have any other brands. Might be some insurance issues too; it's really too complicated for us to give you any sort of accurate answer on what will happen. Just see what your doctor says. If you know a specific brand works well for you you might be able to have your doctor specify that brand on your future prescriptions, and you could make sure your pharmacy will always have them in stock.

You are not the only one who hates the Apotex patches or finds certain types of fentanyl patches to work better than others though.

I'm sorry you are going through this but I'm going to have to close this, please feel free to PM me if you have any questions.
