If I'm sober, watching discovery health is enough to get my palms to sweat. One day I was watching a show called 'Life in the ER' and after awhile noticed that it wasn't making me feel repulsed. It didn't take me long to remember that I had taken a valium that day. I've taken my share of benzos and have noticed this effect time after time.

Would any cns depressant produce a similar effect?

I think that some other CNS depressants would have this effect, but I know for a fact that benzos make me less squeamish! I can't even look at a needle/blood when I go to the doctor unless I'm on a benzo. I have to have my blood taken to get my opies and the nurse always asks me if I'm high...I tell her no I'm just on xanax lol!

Yea benzos would definitely help with this. They. Just. Make. You. Not. Give. A. Fuck :P

I don't have that issue I can watch autopsies and shut while eating spaghetti. Lol on benzos no difference... I've always been a sick fuck.

That's more or less what benzos are for, so if you're less squeamish while on the valium then its working. You could have just as easily changed the channel. :P

I'm the same way, I had surgery on my elbow and was bored so I was stretchin the scar and it popped. 8o Hurt like shit, but the fact that I could see inside my arm/the bone didn't bother me. Same thing when I went to work with stitches on my inner thigh and they popped. I just pulled the stitches out, put a band aide and went back to work lol. Then Again I have probably about 2-3ft of scars on my body and have been poked my whole life, so needle and shit like that doesn't bother me one bit.

Benzo's yes, take away quite a bit of the anxiety that involve my phobias or things that make me squeamish, but opiates put me in a place where I just don't get squeamish, upset etc. at all. I am not advertising opiates as anxiolytics, but for me they are far superior than benzo's in a lot of cases for the purpose of anxiolysis. Benzo's don't numb me out really, so much as calm me down, and disinhibit me, while opiates seem to allow me to feel genuinely content, and anxiety free. But for what they are, benzo's have served me pretty good.

Benzodiazepines greatly help me deal with my phobias and make me less "squeamish". I get that way with people. At my club I run to the office when I get there.

same thing with me man. Sometimes its hard for me to deal with people on my campus and stuff. I'll go to the bathroom just to get a break sometimes, especially at a party or something. Benzo's help so much with this problem. I'm talkative, relaxed, and I just feel like I can be myself. OMFGzorr i <3 benzoZ!!1!

no but seriously. xanax is a lifesaver.

I was never an overly sensitive or squeamish person before or during my benzo use, but during the first 6 weeks or so of withdrawal I would get freaked out by anything that was even slightly disturbing. I was very mentally fragile during that period.

I second that. With some of the more speedy opiates I still get squeamish. Give me morphine, and I'm sure I can watch a triple bypass while eating tomato soup.

Yeah withdrawals make my emotions ultra sensitive so when I did see something that is mildly disturbing, it would seem exponentially worse. My hands are normally shaky, but if I had daily doses of benzos, hell I could be a surgeon and not mind it in the slightest.

The horrible thing about being addicted to benzodiazepines or years...your going to have withdrawal symptoms for like 6-12 months. I'm still trying to get over them and I'm at 4 months. I was on them for 11 years.

i'm serously thinking about going back to benzos and saying the hell with this taper.

i miss not feeling feelings...

Yeah, first time I did a benzo the old man who had them (valium) said "Them's my don't give a fuck about nothing pills" I haven't heard a better description since.
