Anyone else hate 4/20?

As the world wide celebration is about to begin, i wonder how other dedicated stoners feel towards this holiday of ours?

Personally, i find people who smoke cannabis like once a month will go all out for it and smoke their shitty joints and that's hardly a representation of a dedicated stoner. I just know it'll be all over facebook, 'wooo 420 lets get high!' kind of bullshit and it just annoys me for some reason.

I also appreciate that it's a day that showcases the movement of legalization and the medicinal qualities of cannabis but it seems like it's at odds with those dumb shit kids who just go out and get high in public to be cool or trendy or whatever the fuck they think it does for them.

So, opinions from people who smoke all day every day? from those who smoke medicinally? and those who smoke the odd hit off a joint... how do you feel about 4/20?
 
that's definitely true - in the true spirit, it's a good thing by all means IMO. However, now it just annoys the fuck out of me as a whole, despite understanding the celebration of one of my favourite plants.
 
I hate it as I'm from the UK and 4/20 is a good example of the Americanisation of our stoner culture. We used to listen to Pink Floyd and talk about space, but now too often it's heavily strung guitars, wacky hair and fuckin' surfer clothing.
 
4/20 is mostly just another day to me these days. I know back in college (or higschool) it was basically getting stoned which was never any different then any other day one would smoke. But its cool that there's a 'smoke up day' 4/20 every year...
 
I'm glad stoners have their own holiday but as an adult I choose to get stoned whenever I see fit and be sober whenever I feel like it This 4\20 I have a 10 hour work day so I don't really want to smoke that much. But I'm off today which is bicycle day. I'm always more into bicycle day anyway cause it's not so commercialized..
 
Used to. Now I'm truly indifferent. Sometimes I'll smoke, other years I won't-- but I never try to go all out and get as fucked up as possible. Just normal sessions, normal highs.



4/20's just a bunch of hyped up BS, always has been. To each their own, though, if a non-smoker wants to light up because it's 4/20 then I'm cool with it... why wouldn't I be, you know?
 
last year was the 1st time n like 10 years i didnt get high on 420

goin back to highschool n shit n maybe a year or two after all my friends n i would just buy a shit load of weed n make a shit load of plans n then get together early n the morning (like before noon early, not like 8am early) n then we would just smoke a shit ton n get burnt out by like 6-7 n usually not follow thru on any plans or things we were gonna do

then when i was usin i still smoked but 420 wasnt anything special it was just another day i was gonna have to get some opes n smoke some weed

now its kind of whatever, like i enjoy when i see people just out n about blatantly stoned on 420 n its kinda funny n usually good vibes but im not doin anything special tom

ill be workin n thats bout it
 
I would agree with the point that people who over overexaggerate 4/20 and wear eccentric cannabis clothing out to be cool. I especially dislike the kids who have heard 5 Bob Marley songs and buy his clothing because it's "stoner culture".

But personally I've always looked at it as a day to relax and smoke all day. I slow down on weed consumption for about a week and exercise a little more. I'd then of course smoke heavily all day 4/20, and I've been thinking about some edibles this year.

I don't by any means care to go out and party and over-consume, that sounds like a waste of weed.

Yeah well, if you're on the east coast of the US, "4/20" started 20 minutes ago, and we're the idiotes that invented that shit....IDK where the people that were posting "Yay, it's 4/20!" 12 hours ago are from.....southeast Asia? didn't know 420 was a thing that far east....or west...or whatever...

I celebrate 4/20..I would say I'm a daily smoker but for the past month in which I "tried" to take a break I just ended up smoking every other day or sometimes three times a week (which I plan to keep). So if I'm baked every other way what does it matter..well smoking every day your tolerance just goes up and up and its a waste of money and weed honestly you just lose appreciation. So I take a t-break before 4/20, try to lower my tolerance and since I haven't smoked in a while im really craving it..now THATS a really nice feeling. And thats the reason I celebrate 4/20 (although I do take tolerance breaks during any month) 4/20 is like a little weed Christmas. And I get high so why not? whether you smoke every day or not if you smoke on 4/20 you are part taking in it..it doesn't has to be anything special.

Of course I dont go around advertising Im going to smoke or how much weed I have etc..I think stoners already have enough negative publicity...but I dont go around saying how much I hate it either, thats not any more mature.
 
It is 4.11pm here and I have a huge bud & keif bowl warming in the vape. Then again it is no different to most Saturday afternons getting high & watching footy.
